Chapter 82: Belly Bump
Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:
- Be Careful What You Wish For: Stoick continuously pesters Hiccup to give his kids Berk names. They end up choosing "Peep" for one of them, a name considered taboo on Berk because it allegedly brought disaster and ruin to any who uttered it.
- The Bet: The Madrigals ended up placing bets on the triplet's combination of genders would have been. Alma, Bruno, Pepa and Julieta end up winning the bet, having guessed that they would be two girls and a boy.
- Fluffy the Terrible: The name that is all-but taboo to Berk's culture because it's allegedly a "name so mighty, so terrible, that it could kill a man with just it's utterance"... is "Peep."Hiccup: Goggletoad is okay, but Peep? Oh no! That's a step too far!
Mirabel: What's wrong with it? How is that supposed to strike fear into the hearts of men? It's cute! - History Repeats: Much like with the previous Candle-Holder (Alma), Mirabel ends up giving birth to two girls and a boy. Amusingly enough, Alma, Pepa, Julieta and Bruno are Genre Savvy enough to notice this and bet on them having two girls and a boy.
- Mythology Gag: The only names Hiccup and Mirabel find in the Berk Name Book that they don't find ridiculous are "Zephyr" and "Nuffink", the name Hiccup and Astrid's kids have in the Babies Ever After ending of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.
- Running Gagged: The Running Gag Hiccup and Mirabel has comes full-circle when Stoick throws in "Fartmuncher" as a potential name for one of their babies.
- Shout-Out: Toothless roaring to get the third baby to react is similar to when Hulk did the same with Tony near the end of The Avengers (2012).
- Wacky Cravings: Mirabel develops a craving for Berk food (much to the rest of the family's disgust), asking Hiccup to get ingredients for Eel Soup.
