Chapter 62: No Place Like It

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

  • And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt: Hiccup makes his own derivative of the joke.
Hiccup: I defeated the Red Death, and all I got was this lousy peg leg....
  • Anger Born of Worry: When Isabela greets Hiccup, she hugs him and calls him hermanito... and then slaps him upside the head.
  • Bait-and-Switch: As Antonio runs toward her, Mirabel holds out her arms for a hug... and he runs past her to see her new dragon.
    Mirabel: Love you too, Tonito...
  • Flat-Earth Atheist: When Isabela voices her skepticism at Hiccup's Make a Wish theory, he points out that her whole family is magic and had gotten that magic from a miracle-candle that gave them a living house, thus she has little room to doubt him on this.
  • Foreshadowing: As Hiccup and the Madrigals leave for the Encanto, the Skrill from before notes that wherever they're going its going to be interesting. By the end of the chapter, most of the dragons had followed them to the Encanto.
  • Make a Wish: Hiccup catches on that the magic storm that took him to the Encanto and all of them to Berk did so when they truly desired it.
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: Hiccup had lost his leg and Mirabel has permanent burn scars after surviving the battle with the Red Death. Berk's war with the dragons is now over with the Red Death's defeat and everyone returns to the Encanto, unwittingly bringing a sizable number of dragons back with them as new additions to the population.
  • Truth in Television: One of the tropical crops that manages to take in Berk is a banana tree. There actually are some species of banana that grow in cold climates, like the the Chinese yellow banana and Sikkim banana.
  • You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: Hiccup accidentally slips and calls Julieta "mom."
