Recap / The Bridge: Humanity's Stand Ch 5 The World Rises

After being thanked for helping to defeat Taiyou, Lauren and Craig are hustled into a conference room, which has several screens linking to important figures like the President of the United States and Premier Shang of China. The meeting begins and Marshall Stacker Pentecost explains the reasons why he authorized firing Dimension Tide at Solgell Island. First, Godzilla and Xenilla's battle was generating so much heat and radiation that if it had been allowed to continue, it would have ignited the atmosphere itself. So it was a choice between using Dimension Tide or the planet's biosphere being wiped out. Second, he knew all along that Dimension Tide fires wormholes, not black holes.

As everybody gasps, Pentecost shows unreleased footage of Dimension Tide's first test from several years ago. It reveals that the wormhole it created was the gateway that allowed the Kaiju known as Megaguirus to enter Terra from whatever world she first inhabited. The President asks why this was kept secret and Dimension Tide's true capabilities lied about. Pentecost explains that they wanted to perfect it before using it as an official tool. Each test was a failure. They could never keep the wormholes stable and open long enough to be practical, and they couldn't control where they led to. Over the years, eighteen different creatures beside Megaguirus came through the wormholes. Some couldn't breathe in our atmosphere and died quickly, the rest were savage and hostile. He shows footage of a spider-like creature similar to a Xenomorph emerging from a wormhole. It immediately attacked the technicians and had to be gunned down.

Despite these setbacks, Pentecost ordered Dimension Tide to be put in orbit as an ultimate last resort, after the Final Wars made him realize how hopelessly out-gunned Terra is. The President asks if any creatures emerged from the wormholes that sucked up Godzilla and the other Kaiju, and Pentecost says they have not detected any.

He then reveals how Gamera was contacted by Mothra and a native of the world they ended up in. Xenilla and Destroyah are contained and they are searching for a way home. When he admits that Mothra and the native used magic to contact Gamera, the leaders and scientists groan and say they hate magic. Pentecost, incredibly embarrassed, admits that the Kaiju landed in a world that seems to be identical to the world of Equestria from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. The President says that has to be the most ridiculous thing he has ever heard, but considering they live in a world of Kaiju, aliens, and wormholes, he is willing to believe him.

Now, Pentecost's plan is to end the war and wipe out the evil Kaiju on Terra, then focus on helping their stranded friends return home. The world leaders agree to help support the operations when they are told Gamera and his faction will work with them. Pentecost turns to Lauren and Craig and explains that they were brought in because they require their expertise on Equestria. The two nervously point out that until this moment, they thought Equestria was just something they made up, so they don't know if anything they say will even be accurate. Pentecost sighs and says it's better than nothing; any piece of info can be crucial to understanding this new world and retrieving their lost friends. Suddenly, a technician reports that their feed has been hacked. The entire conference was recorded and broadcast on the Internet, and it instantly went viral. Pentecost nods, but thinks to himself, Just as planned.

Meanwhile, in the temple of Zenith, Bagan is angry. He is still aware of what is happening on Terra, and Pentecost uniting humanity and the good Kaiju against the evil Kaiju there will set back his plans greatly. Plus, his servants in Red Dawn were defeated and Taiyou and Dredger were taken prisoner instead of killed. He cannot allow them to be interrogated and reveal his existence and plans.
