Recap / The Bridge Bonus 6 Holiday Special Part 2

Go To

Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk run as fast as they can, but Monster X easily keeps up with them using his Le Parkour skills. They use their song to get some mall cops to attack him. As they stop to catch their breaths, Sonata asks if the stranger chasing them is Aria's ex-boyfriend, but she is outraged and says she had never seen him before in her life. Sonata shrugs and breaks the fourth wall by saying the readers will probably ship them together. Aria has no idea what she just said. Sonata then stumbles and accidentally pulls the fire alarm, causing the people to walk out of the mall and clear the way for Monster X, who just knocked out the last of the mall cops. Aria laments Sonata's idiocy as they run into the parking lot.

After fumbling with their keys for a minute, the pair get into their car and try to ram him, but he dodges and they hit a metal fence post. They drive away, and he picks up the fence post.

After driving past the cops and fire truck who came to respond to the fire alarm, the shaken up Aria and Sonata decide to call it a day and go home to their leader Adagio Dazzle. Sonata again breaks the fourth wall by claiming the author put the fire alarm there to mess with them, which Aria dismisses as babble. As they drive toward their cabin in the woods, they are terrified when Monster X out of nowhere jumps on the roof of the car. Aria speeds up and swerves to try to shake him off, but he smashes the engine with the fence post and the car starts to slow down. Sonata sings, trying to control him and make him go away. Instead, the magical song makes him hallucinate a burning city and Grand King Ghidorah laughing at him. Enraged, he lashes out and rips out their steering wheel. Unable to control the car, it drives off a bridge and into a river, destroying a cell tower in the process.

Where are you, Sunset?

Sunset Shimmer and Irys ride a roller coaster. Irys enjoys it because it feels like flying, but Sunset feels sick and Irys has to help her stand for a few minutes. Sunset notes that Irys is cold to everyone except her, but it's still an improvement over her having no friends at all. She checks her phone and finds there is no signal. Irys, having learned how the carnival tickets work, buys them a snack, then suddenly remembers she has a mission to do. She gets scared, thinking that if she fails, the master will send others, like Gaira or Grand King Ghidorah, who would kill people like Sunset without hesitation. She then hears a gentle female voice like a wind chime say, "He cannot see you here. Sunset Shimmer will be safe." Irys asks who said that, but gets no answer. Nonetheless, she is calmed. She then senses a source of energy, coming from the necklace of a nearby teen with poofy hair, Adagio Dazzle, who is singing into a microphone at a karaoke booth. She prepares to attack, but realizes if she does, Sunset will be upset. She makes her choice: to spend her remaining three hours playing with Sunset. In another part of the carnival, the human versions of Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash search for Sunset Shimmer. They try texting her, but there is no signal.

The Siren and the Xilian.

Monster X drags the unconscious Aria out of the water. He can't see Sonata anywhere and assumes she was washed downstream. He attempts to take Aria's necklace, but it releases a force that knocks him back. Aria wakes up and coughs up water. She then catches him off guard and punches him with the eye, cracking his mask. She says she can tell he isn't human and asks what he is, but he retorts that she isn't really human either and compliments her on her guard stance. She comments that she takes martial arts classes and asks what he wants. All he wants is her necklace. She says no way and attacks him, noting that she observed Sonata's attempt to control him and realized it won't work. As they trade blows, he asks why he couldn't pull her necklace off and she explains it is the Heart of a Siren. It only comes off if she removes it willingly. He says he'll just have to force her to remove it.

Eventually, he pins her against a tree and she can't break free. He says she made a good effort, but a mere student realistically can't beat a war veteran. He declares, "Surrender your Heart to me, and I will keep it safe." Aria immediately starts blushing furiously. Monster X gets embarrassed as well and says that's not what he meant. He meant give him the necklace and he'll let her go. She doesn't trust him, but he points out if he wanted to kill her, he would have done it already. She really doesn't want to give up the source of her powers, but sees no other choice. She pulls the necklace off, and in tears, hands it over, adding that her name is Aria so X will stop calling her "You". He promises to leave her in peace and is about to take it when Sonata suddenly sneaks up and swings the fence post into his groin.

As Monster X staggers away groaning and cursing humanity for having such a pathetic weak spot, Aria stands there stunned by what just happened until Sonata grabs her hand and they run away. He angrily tries to chase them, but they flag down a passing van and escape. He tries to follow, but reaches his limit and can't run anymore. He swallows his pride and admits he failed his mission. By his estimate, he has just enough time to walk back to town before the portal closes.

Let's go home, Irys.

Irys walks Sunset Shimmer to the bus stop, which happens to be near the portal. Monster X walks up and Irys claims to Sunset that he's someone she's staying with. He sees them and deduces what happened, grumbling that he worked his butt off all day while she had fun, but he's happy that she isn't depressed anymore. Irys is sad that she has to go, but they share a hug and then she gives Sunset her necklace as a memento, saying she might not be back in a long time. Sunset says she knows she'll be back. As she boards the bus, Monster X senses a strong energy in Sunset, and considers bringing her to the master as a substitute for the necklaces, but dismisses that train of thought as he's not that evil. As she's leaving, Sunset notes how unusual Irys and Monster X are, and speculates that they may be from Equestria like her, which is wrong but a good guess. Irys explains how she was given a name, and they tell of their experiences. As they enter the portal, they agree to just tell the master they found nothing.

As soon as they arrive in Zenith, Megalon runs up and gives them a bear hug, with an embarrassed Gigan looking on. Monster X doesn't mind, and is glad he's back with his team. Irys is also glad she's found her new flock.
