This episode shows examples of…

  • The Bus Came Back: Tom Keene officially returns as a main character following the events of his solo series.
  • Great Escape: The whole point of getting Smokey to the court house was so the trial could begin and Heddie, the witness, would be transferred. Red then intercepted the transport and sprung her, pulling a double as her disappearance leads to the charges against Smokey to be dismissed.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: Raymond Reddington has gone from a near-impossibly rich crimelord with homes and resources all over the world to living in a budge motel and stealing cars to make ends meet thanks to Mr. Kaplan. The Story Arc of the season revolves around rebuilding his empire
  • Internal Reveal: Cooper discloses to the rest of the Task Force that Reddington is Liz's biological father and Liz herself tells Tom when he finally returns.
  • Riches to Rags: Red is confirmed to be completely broke and has resorted to petty crimes, at least by his standards, such as grand theft auto to make money. He actually had outstanding debt at the budget motel he's living in.
