Plot

The guys are excited when Penny invites them to her Halloween party.

Tropes:

• Dresses the Same: All four of the guys end up dressing as the Flash. Sheldon's response?
  Sheldon: See, this is why I wanted to have a costume meeting!
• Epic Fail: In the Cold Open, it's mentioned that the guys lost a paintball game to a Bar Mitzvah party.
• First Kiss: Penny kisses Leonard for the first time in this episode.
• Group Costume Fail: Inverted. The guys accidentally all dress as The Flash for Halloween, but since they don't want to all wear the same costume, they decide to pick new, unrelated costumes.
• Halloween Costume Characterization: Leonard dresses as Frodo, mentioning that both are short and unassuming. Sheldon, on the other hand, chooses a very abstract costume that is meant to represent the Doppler effect, and doesn't understand why it's not obvious to anyone else.
• Halloween Episode: A Halloween costume party is the focus of the plot.
• Oh, Crap!: The reaction between the group when all four of them dress as Flash.
• Ms. Fanservice: Penny dresses up as a sexy cat girl.
• Recognition Failure: Howard is dressed as Robin Hood, but everyone assumes he's Peter Pan.
• Themed Party: Discussed. Sheldon is baffled that Penny's Halloween party is a generic Halloween party without a specific theme or any restriction. He suggests several possible themes, like science-fiction, fantasy, comic-books, anime, TV, film, D&D, manga, Greek Gods, Roman Gods, or Norse Gods.
