- The Bus Came Back: Ebra returns after being absent since quitting cooking school. Since The Bear still wants to serve traditional sandwiches, they let him run the window ordering, as there's very little need for any formal training, and he can be comfortable in a role he knows.

- Marcus shows Sydney the dish he practiced making in Copenhagen.
- Carmy mentions that he recently told Claire about the Christmas dinner where his mother drove a car through a wall of their house.
- "Eureka!" Moment: When Neil is looking at a burned photo of Michael, Ebra and Tina, he realizes that Michael disabled the fire suppression trying to commit insurance fraud. Now knowing what to do, he fixes it and they pass the fire suppression test.
- Heartfelt Apology: Richie genuinely apologizes to Sugar for all the trouble he has caused and vows to be better from now on.
- One Dialogue, Two Conversations: Tina and Ebra talk about the state of the restaurant, but are also talking about their careers taking divergent paths.
- Relationship Upgrade: Claire is shown in her underwear at Carmy's apartment. A lot is made over Carmy not calling her his girlfriend. At the end of the episode, he does.
- Running Gag: Several characters take sips from a bottle of Pepto throughout the episode, as the stress of the opening and the possibility of failing their third and final fire suppression test weighs on them.
- Secret Test of Character: Richard intentionally misaligned one utensil and napkin at the table setting that he and Sugar are interviewing at, just to see who would notice it and do something about it. When their latest interviewee fails to correctly align the napkin, he rejects her candidacy out of hand.
- She Is Not My Girlfriend: When Marcus asks who Claire is, Carmy and Sydney give differing responses:Carmy: -She's a girl that's a friend.
Sydney: -Ooh, it's his girlfriend. - Shout-Out: Carmy and Richie quote from the The Blues Brothers as they prep for their third and final fire-suppression test.
- Significant Wardrobe Shift: When Richie returns, he is now wearing a dark suit and tie, similar to what he wore at the restaurant he staged at.Sugar: That's why you're wearing the suit?
Richie: I'm wearing a suit because it makes me feel better about myself.
