"WAAAAAAAAAH! IT'S REAL!!! I KNEW IT!!!"

Jimmy the Robot: Once upon a time, there was a giant floating eyeball that flew across the land...
Crash McLarson: I like this story!
Jimmy: ...in search of human souls to devour!
Crash: I don't like this story!

Somewhere, at a rock concert...

The 'Bats play a particularly energetic show, leaving them tired and in need of sleep, so they stop the Battletram by a Truck Stop. On Crash's request Jimmy reads them the story book 'The Floating Eye Of Death,' which instructs them to summon the creature by saying it's name backwards three times. Eaglebones and Crash (accidentally in his case) say it aloud, before Ricky says it a third time as a joke before going to sleep.

Having no need for sleep, Jimmy returns to his lab to recharge, feeling alienated from his friends because of his robotic nature.

Crash wakes up and decides to buy some snacks at the Truck Stop. After playing an arcade game/watching a cartoon, he leaves to discover the Floating Eye of Death in the flesh, converting a trucker into a zombie slave.

Screaming for help, the Commander arrives (to tell the neighbors to keep it down) just to be himself converted. Ricky however manages to keep the zombies distracted by running circles around them, while Crash and Eaglebones run inside to protect the cashier girl. They are promptly distracted by the hats they are selling, going so far as to start singing about them. This unfortunately leads to Ricky being zombified.

Jimmy finishes recharging to find the Battletram empty, and fears he's been abandoned.

Crash and Eaglebones figure that Jimmy could give the monster Laser Eye Surgery, and formulate a plan...which consists of Eaglebones throwing snackfood at the zombies while Crash runs over and knocks on the Battletram door shouting for Jimmy. While pleased that his friends have not abandoned him, Jimmy is just in time to see the Eye zombify Eaglebones. Furious, Jimmy marches into the truck stop and with the cashier girl's help, constructs a laser cannon and attaches it to his arm.

With his new weapon, Jimmy stuns the zombies and easily dispatches the eye, but unfortunately finds that this has not returned his friends to normal. And so, he puts them to bed and begins feeding them the goopy remains of the Eye, giving them their souls bite by bite. Happy to be surrounded by his friends, Jimmy offers to read them a new story; the Flaming Rhino of Darkness.

Tropes

  • Arm Cannon: Jimmy jury-rigs himself a Proton Pack-esque laser cannon to fight the Floating Eye of Death.
  • Brand X: The truck stop store's full of stuff like Yummy O's cereal and Tall Buildings magazine.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs:
Crash McLarson: I wanna hear a story about bears...and licorice...and bears with licorice arms!
  • Call-Back: The Floating Eye Of Death is an antagonist from their album of the same name. The instrumental track that plays when the band is in danger ("Good Night") is from that same album.
  • Forgot I Could Fly: Crash is terrified of the eye, meaning he is getting emotional, and yet he doesn't grow to giant size. While useful, a giant monster fight probably didn't fit the creepy tone of the episode.
  • Gas Station of Doom: The episode happens in the middle of the night at an isolated gas station, where everyone gets their souls stolen one by one and turned into zombies.
  • Here We Go Again!: Jimmy brings up another bedtime story to read to the rest of the 'Bats.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The titular antagonist is played really seriously as it never speaks nor are any jokes being made about it. It's theme is also quite unnerving.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The Aquabats almost cause a Zombie Apocalypse by summoning the Floating Eye of Death.
  • No Ontological Inertia: Discussed and averted. Jimmy The Robot directly states that he expected this to apply to the Floating Eye's soul devouring and zombification, upon discovering that it didn't.
  • Parody Commercial: For the Stoopid Phone, the opposite of a smartphone.
  • Rule of Three: To summon the Floating Eye of Death, his name has to be said backwards three times.
  • Squick: To get their souls back, Jimmy spoon feeds his friends the Eye's remains, figuring Your soul has to be in here somewhere.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: The Floating Eye's main objective, stealing their souls with his gaze.
  • Zombie Apocalypse: Essentially what the Eye will cause.
