"Clark" visits Martha, who's upset he didn't come by. "Clark" apologizes and says he had a situation to deal with. Philip believes she's cracking, and wants Gabriel to tell the Centre to help get her out, but Gabriel doesn't think it's time to panic yet. At the FBI, Stan admits he didn't find anything incriminating, while Aderholt tells him her story about her seeing a married man, and they both decide it's still worth it to keep her under surveillance, which makes Martha come more unraveled, especially when "Clark" can't come to visit her.
Elizabeth and Philip go to meet with Pastor Tim and Alice, bringing along "Father Rivas", who tells them of how Elizabeth and Paige have helped his people in El Salvador. Paige gets upset with the fact Pastor Tim won't talk to her about what he and her parents talked about, but she does make up with him. Elizabeth also tells Paige to lay off asking her and Philip about their job for a while.
Oleg is upset about what happened to Nina, and returns to America after burying his brother. He meets with Stan, who is equally upset when he finds out about Nina.
Elsewhere, Philip finally mends fences with Stan after their fight.
This episode contains examples of:
- Armchair Military: Igor accuses the Soviet military of this.
- Blatant Lies: "Father Rivas", of course, isn't real (after he leaves, Elizabeth wonders if he's even a real priest), and certainly, the Jennings never did any specific work in El Salvador as he described.
- Does This Remind You of Anything?: There are parallels here drawn between the war in Afghanistan and The Vietnam War; Igor brings up the fact the Soviet military won't even acknowledge it's a war.
- Historical Domain Character: "Father Rivas" brings up Archbishop Oscar Romero, who was murdered in El Salvador by the US-backed government for advocating on behalf of the poor. He also mentions Rutillo Grande Garcia, a Jesuit priest whose murder led to Romero change his position from being in favor of the right-wing government to speaking out against them.
- Immodest Orgasm: Elizabeth and Philip have sex near the end of the episode (to the tune of "Under Pressure" by David Bowie and Queen), and they're like this.
- I Need a Freaking Drink: As usual, when Martha is stressed about "Clark" not showing up, she drinks wine.
- Insistent Terminology: When Philip, trying to apologize to Stan, admits he was a "wimp", Stan corrects him by saying he was an "asshole".
- Internal Reveal: Elizabeth recognizes Aderholt as the agent accompanying Gaad that she fought when she lost the list of CIA agents in Afghanistan.
- Promotion to Opening Titles: Brandon J. Dirden as Agent Aderholt.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: As a result of Nina's execution, Oleg returns to the United States.
- Shout-Out: Henry asks Matthew if he wants to go see Max Dugan Returns, a movie starring Matthew Broderick, Marsha Mason, Jason Robards, and Donald Sutherland.
- Later, Henry and Matthew, along with Stan, play Trivial Pursuit, and there are questions about Howdy Doody, Mickey Mouse and Lassie, among other things.
