When Leslie's petals begin falling off, he feels like his good looks are fading, so Gumball and Darwin use everything they know about style and beauty to try and help him.

Tropes:

  • Bat Deduction: Gumball sees pink petals on the ground and successfully locates Leslie hiding in the dressing rooms. Reaching the conclusion involves gluten-free diets and underemployed actors.
"Think about it— what has petals? Flowers. What is made of flour? Bread. Who eats bread? Everyone, apart from people who can't eat gluten. Who doesn't eat gluten? People on a made-up diet. What kind of people are usually on fad diets? Drama queens. Who are usually drama queens? Actors. And what do actors do in real life? They work as waiters in the food industry. And where do they lie about not working in the food industry? [points behind Darwin] In their dressing rooms."
  • Bowdlerise: A lot of the threat and horror in the sequence of Leslie running from Gumball and Darwin after they suggest Leslie get his head cut off in order to save himself from wilting was cut in a lot of international versions (specifically in the Taiwanese dub, the Russian dub, the Bulgarian dub, the Cartoon Network Asia version, and the dubs shown in France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Germany). The scenes cut include:
    • Harold (Tobias' dad) freaking out when Leslie approaches him in the car was cut, while Harold punching Leslie in the face was covered with a white Hit Flash when shown on Cartoon Network Asia and the dubs shown in Russia, Bulgaria, and Taiwan.
    • Leslie falling into the compost pile was cut in the Russian and Bulgarian dubs.
    • Leslie begging Mrs. Robinson to help, only for Leslie to get scared by her evil face was cut on the Taiwanese, Russian, and Bulgarian dubs (though not Banana Bob's creepy face).
    • Gumball and Darwin hiding behind Leslie as Leslie frantically calls for help in the basement was cut in the Taiwanese and Cartoon Network Asia dubs.
    • Leslie pulling off his head himself was shortened in the French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Portuguese dubs and initially cut completely in the Taiwanese dub, but has since been reinstated in the Taiwanese dub.
    • The earlier scene of Leslie getting stopped by the Doughnut Sheriff for public nudity was cut to remove the Doughnut Sheriff using water as Brain Bleach on his eyes was cut on the French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Portuguese dubs.
  • Brutal Honesty: Gumball and Darwin are very open about how ugly Leslie's face looks.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Darwin tries to convince Leslie to go through with the deadheading because otherwise his face will keep rotting. Leslie takes this to mean it's better to die with the memory of his beauty than live ugly, which he accepts, but Gumball quickly clarifies his head will grow back.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Leslie.
  • Eyes Are Unbreakable: Despite how much the rest of Leslie's face decays, his eyes are undamaged. Although his eye sockets get so worn that his eyes end up resting in oversized holes in his face.
  • Facial Horror: Leslie's face gets progressively more worn and desiccated as the episode goes on. It's horribly wrinkled to start with, and by the end resembles leather stretched over a skeleton without any cartilage (i.e. no cheeks, no lips, nose is just a pair of nostrils).
  • Kiss of Life: Darwin forces Gumball to give Leslie mouth-to-mouth when the amount of clothing covering him prevents him from photosynthesis/breathing. Leslie is not happy when Gumball pulls away.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After accidentally putting Leslie in one massive Humiliation Conga, the now-beheaded Leslie chases after Gumball and Darwin with a large pair of scissors after they reveal his head will grow back in spring, which is six months from now.
  • Losing Your Head: Darwin and Gumball decide the only way to fix Leslie is to cut his flower (head) off, and so pull out a pair of gardening shears. Leslie runs away thinking they're crazy, until they explain it will grow back good as new, then he rips it off himself. What they didn't bother to tell him before cutting was that it would take months, and so Leslie grabs the shears and starts chasing Darwin and Gumball with them.
  • Mood Dissonance: Played for Laughs; while Gumball and Darwin try to make cutting Leslie's head off a pleasant experience by emulating a calming gardening show, from Leslie's perspective it's like he's being stalked in a slasher movie.
  • Reactive Continuous Scream: Leslie and Harold reactively scream at each other after Leslie appears outside Harold's car window and terrifies the man.
  • Sequel Snark: Darwin describes the change in Leslie's face when he hangs out with other guys.
Darwin: You know when a bad movie comes out, and you're like "the sequel can't possibly be worse", and then it is? It's like the 10th movie.
  • Shown Their Work: At one point, Gumball refers to the seasonal decapitation of flowers as deadheading, which is a real gardening chore. Gardeners do this to encourage more blooms, improve the plant’s overall health, prevent seed formation, and keep the garden aesthetically pleasing. However, Gumball later claims that the flower (Leslie’s head) will grow back in the spring. Based on his design, Leslie seems to be a pink shasta daisy, which typically bloom in the summer.
  • Success Hallucinations: Gumball tries to restore Leslie's face with weed killer, but it just causes him to hallucinate that he's become a Adonis-like version of himself.
  • Sudden Anatomy: Mrs. Robinson doesn't usually have teeth or sclera, but when Leslie goes to for help, she has both contributing to an impressive Slasher Smile.
