Richard gets a free haircut when he threatens to give Larry a bad review, inspiring Gumball and Darwin to do the same all over town. However, when Larry creates a system that reviews the people of Elmore, the whole town falls apart.

Tropes:

  • Bad Review Threat: The whole premise of the episode revolves around Gumball threatening to tank Larry's many jobs with bad reviews, which results in him weaponizing a review website that shuts society down with its Reality Warper powers.
  • Baldness Angst: Richard is in complete denial that he's bald, no matter how much evidence presents itself. He goes to Larry to get a haircut and is horribly offended when it's pointed out he doesn't have any.
  • Balloon Belly: Gumball and Darwin get so fat at Larry's Restaurant that their bellies bump each other across the table.
  • Bowdlerization:
    • Some international versions of this episode edit out the part of Gumball and Darwin loosening their pants and their swollen stomachs popping out on the table.
    • The airing in the US cuts away to the disgusted looks of onlookers when Larry's mutant new animal gives birth through its trunk.
  • Chekhov's Gag: When Richard asks Gumball and Darwin if he really looks bald, they have difficulty looking because of the sunlight reflecting off his head. This happens again later when Larry is about to give the website a five-star review (making it unstoppable), blinding him enough that he accidentally gives it zero stars.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Larry.
  • Deer in the Headlights: Society grinds to a halt as everyone in Elmore is too afraid of getting a bad rating to do anything. It comes to a head when Richard, who is so afraid to move he just stands in the middle of the road, is in the way of a taxi whose passengers are too distracted reviewing each other to avoid him.
  • End-of-Episode Silliness: The climax concerns Gumball, Darwin, and Richard getting Larry to shut down the rating site so they can move out of the way of a speeding car. This succeeds, but they all stay on the road, Larry continues to insist Richard admits to being bald, Richard begins to do so before they're all hit by a car anyway, the episode ends, and they're all fine by the next one.
  • Furry Baldness: Larry, Gumball, and Darwin all insist Richard is bald, even though Richard's head seems to be covered by fur just like the rest of his body. Richard's scalp is then shown to be reflective, suggesting he actually is bald, you just can't tell because his pink fur is the same color as his bare skin.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: After starting up the person rating website, Gumball, as with everyone but Larry, ends up getting ranked down to one star.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: Richard's phone conversation with Larry ends up being a series of these.
Larry: I'm calling about your review.
Richard: How are you so sure it was me? I used a fake name.
Larry: Well, actually, you signed the review "Richard".
Richard: But I meant a different Richard!
    Larry: A different Richard Watterson?
Richard: I have a very common name.
    Larry: You uploaded your photo.
Richard: I... have a very common face?
  • Implausible Deniability: Richard tells Larry that he wasn't the one who wrote the bad review, despite signing the review with his full name and uploading a picture of himself.
  • Karma Houdini: Gumball and Darwin don't get much payback from Larry for taking advantage of him—he seems more concerned with getting Richard to admit he's bald. Though all four of them get hit by a car.
  • Overly Long Gag: Principal Brown having his haircut checked.
  • Parrot Exposition: When Larry is on the phone with Richard and acknowledges himself, Darwin, Gumball, and Richard in succession repeat his greeting:
    Larry: It's Larry.
Richard: (gasps, to his sons) It's Larry.
    Darwin: (gasps) It's Larry!
    Gumball: (gasps) It's Larry!
Richard: (gasps, to the phone) It's Larry!
  • Socially Scored Society: Gumball and Darwin start leaving bad reviews on Larry's various jobs. They eventually get a website that rates everyone, but this spirals into all of Elmore being too afraid to do their jobs for fear of a bad rating.
  • Something Person: Parodied. Gumball and Darwin watch a movie featuring a character named "Man-Man", who, according to Darwin, was "bitten by a man and given the powers of a man".
  • Stylistic Suck: When Gumball threatens to give Larry's movie theater a bad review for not showing better movies, Larry hastily makes his own movie to show, with him playing all the parts thanks to some improvised costumes and shoddy Split Screen effects. Gumball isn't impressed, but Darwin is, and gives it five stars.
  • Stat-O-Vision: After Gumball makes a site to rate people, suddenly everyone in Elmore has their star ratings floating over their heads.
  • Verbal Backspace: Gumball claims that using a Bad Review Threat to manipulate Larry is a victimless crime, but amends it to an effortless crime when Darwin points out that Larry would be the victim in that case.
