After learning that Tobias' parents have a point system for him where he earns money for every chore he does, Gumball and Darwin try to get in on it by doing Tobias' chores for him while Tobias gets hooked on a freemium game.

Tropes

  • Allegedly Free Game: The episode concerns an in-universe browser game with blatant Bribing Your Way to Victory—Tobias is able to defeat Darwin and Gumball instantly with a laser he spent $5 on. Tobias then spends so much on micro-transactions that his parents cancel their credit card, and his account is shut down so they can get a refund.
  • Bland-Name Product: Gumball says Tobias' grades are recorded on a locked "PFD", rather than a PDF.
  • The Cake Is a Lie: Tobias gives Darwin and Gumball points he claims they can redeem from his parents for cash, then spent all his allowance himself. Parodied as the points were imaginary the whole time, and when they're told they never existed Gumball and Darwin dramatically flashback to all the times they counted and rolled around in nothing.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Tobias's dad Harold punishes his son because he spent two millions in video game's weapons using the parents credit card and have Tobias's account being banned.
  • Evil Laugh: Tobias does this when he reveals himself to be the one destroying Gumball and Darwin's planet.
  • Fictional Counterpart: Anais mentions a "Corn Farm" game that sounds a lot like FarmVille.
  • Improvised Lockpick: Gumball shapes one of his fingers into a paper clip, which he then unbends to make a lock pick.
  • Jaw Drop: Tobias does this at the very end of the episode when Gumball gives Mr. Wilson "Watterson dollars" - as in, the same exact trick Tobias pulled on the Watterson brothers the whole episode.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Tobias tricked Gumball and Darwin into doing his chores for worthless points. They end up destroying his house and escape punishment by pulling the same trick on Mr. Wilson.
  • Ridiculous Exchange Rates: 2 million in-game currency cost $5, a parody of the ridiculous amounts of Money Grinding these types of games require if you aren't willing to pay real money.
  • Ripped from the Headlines: Tobias story about spending thousands of dollars of his parents money on a game actually happened. A kid was left with his dad's credit card to buy one game, but went on to buy thousands of dollars worth of in-game content.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: When initially prompted on how much money he spent, Tobias says that it's numbers he hasn't been taught in school yet. At the end of the episode, it's revealed that the bill was $15,000.
  • T-Word Euphemism: Parodied; instead of saying "WTF" (What the fuck?), Gumball says "WTW" (What the what?).
  • Visual Innuendo: Gumball waxes Harold's car in the same manner as an aesthetician waxes someone with body hair — right down to waxing his undercarriage, which causes the car to blare its alarm in pain.
  • With Catlike Tread: Gumball sneaks through the teacher's office with unnecessary acrobatics that break furniture, while crooning and eventually shouting spy music along the way. Darwin nonchalantly walks, though Gumball loudly shushes him for everything Gumball himself breaks.
