Sebastian has major revelations in a tale told like a slick heist film.

Tropes

  • Bait-and-Switch: When Sebastian says he needed a crew, it cuts to Yasper in jail, hinting he's one. It turns out Sebastian was just passing by him to get to his imprisoned cousins.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: We see that under his veneer of the nerdy guy of the previous episodes, Edgar is a truly petty and vindictive man. Not only does he fire Sebastian for not putting more than 20% into their scam but tore up the card just because he knew Sebastian held it so dear. As Sebastian says, when it came to business, Edgar was ruthless and only nice to people he didn't see any value in.
  • The Cameo: Yasper unexpectedly returns in the prison scene.
  • Con Man: Sebastian has been this since a kid from small-time stuff to conning his way into a posh private school where he met Edgar.
  • Hustling the Mark: Sebastian thought he was doing this to Edgar in their first meeting. Too late, he realizes Edgar saw through the act from the start to sucker Sebastian into losing his card.
  • Kansas City Shuffle: Just as it looked like Edgar won after being a step ahead of Sebastian, Aniq realizes Sebastian had palmed the real card for a fake, so he won after all.
  • Knew It All Along: Edgar seems to fall for Sebastian's act at school for a game of Connect Four. After he beats Sebastian for his baseball card, Edgar smirks he knew all along Sebastian was trying to hustle him and flipped it over.
  • #1 Dime: Sebastian’s misprint Justin “Turder” baseball card.
  • The Reveal:
    • Sebastian isn't a British nobleman at all but an American con artist.
    • The two random workers at the wedding are Sebastian's cousins, who he roped into his heist.
    • The "code" Aniq and Travis have been trying to solve? It's been the scorecard for all of Edgar and Sebatian's Connect Four games over the years.
  • Skewed Priorities: Even serving a life sentence, Yasper is still ready for his big hit song, which he thinks will make him a star.
  • Unknown Rival: Aniq finally realizes that while he's been seeing Sebastian as a rival for Zoe's affections and to win over her family, Sebastian has barely been thinking of Zoe and paid less attention to Aniq.
  • Wham Line: Sebastian reveals the truth.
Sebastian: Edgar and I are from two different worlds. He was old money whereas I grew up in a trailer park in San Bernadino.
    Aniq: California? You're British.
Sebastian: No, I just sound British (voice shifts to an American accent) I'm actually a good ol' boy from the U.S. of A.
