Recap / The Adventures Of Superman S 5 E 13 Whatever Goes Up

Go To

After several problematic attempts, Jimmy Olsen actually invents something useful — an anti-gravity formula. Perry immediately puts him to work figuring out how to replicate it for the army. However, other less scrupulous individuals develop an interest in it.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Ash Face: Superman throws the anti-gravity-experiment-and-coffee at the bad guy. There is a bang, and the guy has torn clothes and an ash-covered face.
  • Doomed New Clothes: After the anti-gravity experiment and coffee blows up in his face, the crook sputters, "Oh no! This time it's the whole suit!"
  • No Plans, No Prototype, No Backup: The anti-gravity formula was created when Jimmy was playing around with a chemistry set. Because it was an accident, even he has no idea how to replicate it.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Someone finds out that the anti-gravity formula explodes when mixed with water.
