Recap / The Adventures Of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius S 1 E 7 See Jimmy Run Trading Faces

Go To

After losing one too many relay races, Jimmy adapts his shoes so he can run at lightning speed and seem invisible to others, but it backfires when he suddenly can't stop.

"See Jimmy Run" Tropes:

Jimmy's new mind-reading device accidentally causes he and Cindy to switch bodies, and they use this advantage to mess with each other.

"Trading Faces" Tropes:

  • Big "NO!": Jimmy screams this when Cindy starts playing around with his body.
  • Cut His Heart Out with a Spoon: When Jimmy and Cindy get their brains back in their correct bodies, Cindy threatens to punch Jimmy in the mouth hard enough to "wake up his dentist" if she finds anything wrong with her brain.
  • "Freaky Friday" Flip: The main purpose of the episode.
  • Hands Looking Wrong: after she and Jimmy accidentally swap bodies, Cindy asks what happened to the nail polish she was applying when the switch happened.
  • Innocuously Important Episode: Sheen, Carl, and Libby erasing the mental trait of "Extreme dislike of girls who dislike boys who dislike girls who dislike show-offy boys..." rather than giving it to Jimmy or Cindy becomes the first step in their eventual Relationship Upgrade by removing the mental block that kept them as mere rivals.
  • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: Jimmy realizes this the hard way when he starts thinking about Cindy's shoes.
  • Mental Shutdown: The solution to Cindy and Jimmy switching minds is to literally drain their brains out of their bodies and have the rest of the gang insert their personalities back one trait at a time.
  • The Scream: Jimmy and Cindy as their bodies are being switched.
  • Series Continuity Error: Jimmy (as Cindy) tells Cindy (as Jimmy) to not put his hands on his hips, because guys don't do that. However, in "See Jimmy Run", he's humming with his right hand on his hip. Perhaps he doesn't want to be seen doing it in public.
  • Split-Screen Phone Call: Done when Jimmy attempts to read Cindy's thoughts with the MindPhone, only to be shocked by a lightning storm leading to the "Freaky Friday" Flip for the episode.
  • Voices Are Mental: When Jimmy and Cindy switch bodies, their voices switch as well to match.
