Pugsley's rockets catch the attention of the MSO, which sends two men to the Addams house to investigate. As the Addamses and the investigators both fall deeper into misunderstanding, the situation escalates to an almost catastrophic conclusion.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- Brick Joke: While preparing to enter the Addams property, one of the investigators orders the other to eat the codebook if captured. Later, after Lurch has collared them both, the guy does.
- Disintegrator Ray: Believing the two investigators are aliens, Gomez gives them Pugsley's ray gun to amuse themselves with while he and Morticia feed the plants (actually talk strategy). However, he thinks better of it.
- Gadgeteer Genius: According to Morticia, Pugsley has the American space program beaten by years and, given that his rockets get mistaken for alien aircraft, she seems to be right.
- Mistaken for Aliens: Investigators think that Cousin Itt and (because of his speech and his hair) and Lurch (because he was making "punch" that smoked and was so tall) were Martians. Then Morticia "smokes." The investigators say gibberish to Gomez, who replies in gibberish as a joke, causing the investigators to think Gomez is an alien and the Addamses to think the investigators are aliens. Chaos ensues.
- Something We Forgot: Subverted. Morticia and Gomez walk the professor upstairs, seemingly forgetting about the investigators locked in the "playroom." However, Gomez remembers and comes back.
- Strange Minds Think Alike: Uncle Fester and the lead investigator both express worry about ending up slaves on Mars if they don't handle the situation correctly.
