While playing with his clubs, Gomez accidentally hits himself in the head, causing him to lose his memory and gain a more normal personality, to his family's dismay. Grandfather Squint's medical text turns up a potential cure in the form of another smack, but the others may unintentionally give Gomez too much of a good thing.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- Affectionate Nickname: Gomez doesn't like the nickname "bubele" when he's got amnesia, so he suggests that Morticia could call him "honey bun" or "doll boy" instead. Morticia almost chokes on the words.
- Amnesia Episode: The episode focuses on Gomez hitting his head and acquiring amnesia.
- Here We Go Again!: At the end, Gomez's amnesia is cured, but then Uncle Fester asks, "Who's Fester?", probably due to Morticia hitting him on the head while trying to hit Gomez.
- "I Can't Look!" Gesture: Wednesday closes her eyes as Pugsley prepares to hit Gomez with a club.
- Inheritance Murder: The episode begins with Gomez showing Morticia the new insurance policy he bought, which has a clause that the million-dollar payout will be doubled if Gomez dies in an accident. After losing his memory, he starts to think that the family wants to kill him for the insurance money.
- Injury Bookend: A Running Gag after Gomez gets amnesia. One person hits him and fixes him, another person thinks he's still out of it and brings the amnesia back by hitting him again, and so on.
- Name Amnesia: Gomez gets Identity Amnesia from a strike on the head. When he wakes up, he can't remember anything of his normal life, even his own name or his marriage to Morticia.
- Stealth Insult: Grandmama says she's staying in the stocks for another hour as a beauty treatment. The amnesiac Gomez takes a closer look and says she'd better double the time.
- The Unsmile: Morticia tells Lurch to hold his laughter inside, then release it. Lurch crooks one end of his mouth and laughs in a grunting style, further creeping out Gomez.
