Blood Must Have Blood Part 1

Plot

Bellamy is letting the grounders inside Mount Weather out of their cages as Cage starts to raid the complex for the 47. Some of them are temporarily captured but freed again by Bellamy, Jasper and Maya who bring them to the harvest chamber. Soldiers soon raid the harvest chamber too, taking the 47 prisoner once again. Meanwhile, Cage visits his father, desperately hoping he will tell him a way to stop the incoming attack. Raven and Wick destroy the mountain's generators and the lock on Mount Weather's door is disabled. When they pull the door open however, Lexa commands her people to stand down – she has made a deal with Emerson, her people freed if the grounder army retreats. It is later learned that this was Dante's suggestion. When the grounders retreat, almost all sky people accept defeat and soon leave too, leaving behind only Clarke at the front door and Octavia in the tunnels.

Tropes:

  • Deal with the Devil: Lexa is made an offer by Mount Weather wherein they will release their Grounder prisoners and call a truce between their people if Lexa withdraws her army and leaves the Sky People to their fate. Lexa reluctantly agrees.
  • Friend-or-Idol Decision: Mount Weather offers to release the Grounder prisoners in return for abandoning the Sky People. Lexa chooses to accept it considering it her duty, despite caring deeply for Clarke.
  • Love-Interest Traitor: Despite her love for Clarke, Lexa agrees to the deal with Mount Weather.
  • The Needs of the Many: Lexa chooses to accept the deal with Mount Weather and tells Clarke that, while she does care, she ultimately made the decision to protect her people even if it was over Clarke's own.
  • Please, Don't Leave Me: When the Mount Weather security detail arrives at the dam Raven asks Wick not to leave her alone.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Dante gives a scathing one to Cage telling him that, in the week he has been president, he's made the Grounders hate them even more then they already did, lost their most powerful defense, turned neighbor against neighbor, and is now about to be invaded by an army that wont hesitate to slaughter them all.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: Dante is clearly not happy when Cage tells him that the deal he made has saved his people and made him a hero since it means he's effectively sold out the Sky People and signed their death warrants.
