Recap / Tetangga Masa Gitu E 1

Go To

A couple who have just been married for eight days, Bastian and Bintang, move in to their new house and are introduced to the couple who live right beside them, Adi and Angel, who have been married for nearly a decade. At their second day in the new home, Bastian wants Bintang to buy him a ping pong table, so Adi decides to give him a lesson about stingy wives. However, Adi soon realizes that he himself needs a lesson in making up with an angry wife.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Behind the Black: Granted, he is still miffed about Angel when he enters the house, but Adi doesn't notice the new ping pong table that are right in the middle of the room, until Bastian points it out and the camera pans to it.
  • Distinction Without a Difference: When Adi comments that Bastian is so naive that he must have been married for just a week, Bastian corrects him; Adi is just two days off.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The first two scenes quickly establish the dynamics within each couple.
    • Bastian shows Bintang their new house as a surprise even though she has already seen it. Because Bastian just wants to be romantic, Bintang happily plays along.
    • Angel disrupts Adi in an attempt to make him help her clean up the house. Adi is completely uncaring and just wants to paint.
  • Flat Joy: Downplayed. Bintang gives the least amount of excitement possible (and a rather forced smile) when saying "Yay!" to dodge whether she allows Bastian to buy a ping pong table. Bastian seems to catch on and says "Yay!" in the same tone.
  • Flowers of Romance: Bastian tells Adi about how bringing a flower and saying "I love you" is all it tooks to make one's wife forgive him. Too bad it doesn't work on Angel, mostly because she knows Adi just copies Bastian.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction:
    • Adi predicts what exactly Bintang is going to say when she refuses to buy a ping pong table. Bastian laughs, claiming he doesn't believe Adi one bit. The moment the laughter stops, Bastian worryingly asks Adi if what Adi predicted is really true.
    • At the end of the episode, Adi tells Angel that he no longer wants anything to do with Bastian. Right after that, Bastian calls him to ask for help about hiding his lack of ping-pong skills from Bintang, and Adi immediately tries to play mentor again.
