Go To

"This is the tale of a man who pierces the fate of the universe ruled by the endless cycle of violence."

One week after Gurren Lagann stopped the moon from falling, Viral joins the rest of Team Dai Gurren as Leeron explains about the Cathedral Terra (which had been disguised as the moon), Spiral power (produced by fighting spirit), the Anti-Spirals (originally Spiral life forms who feared that using Spiral power would destroy the universe) and how they set spiral life form annihilation systems for the Spirals' home worlds whose inhabitants were forced to live underground. As for the beastmen, Viral explains that they were lifeforms created by Lordgenome.

Rossiu returns to his old home village of Adai where he meets the old priest, Father Magin. Back at Kamina City, Kinon tells Simon that Rossiu was so upset over everything he did during the Anti-Spiral crisis. Taking off in Gurren Lagann, Simon and Kinon concentrate on Rossiu, who, in the depths of Adai, is prepared to kill himself to atone for everything he did. Suddenly Gurren Lagann teleports in front of Rossiu, and Simon leaps out of the cockpit to prevent Rossiu from committing suicide by punching him in the face, just like Kamina had done for Simon years ago. Once Simon makes Rossiu realize that he really doesn't need to punish himself and understand the need to move on, they along with Kinon take off on Gurren Lagann.

Back at Kamina City, Lordgenome explains that the key to finding the Anti-Spiral homeworld is Nia's ring and that with fighting spirit Team Dai Gurren can warp to their destination. After releasing the real moon from the dimension that the Anti-Spirals had hidden it, Team Dai Gurren onboard the Cathedral Terra, now called the Super Galaxy Dai Gurren, gets ready for the final battle with the Anti-Spirals.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Driven to Suicide: Rossiu, because of everything he'd done, from jailing Simon to leaving Earth with only a small portion of its population, decides to commit suicide as atonement. However . . .
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: Simon stops Rossiu from killing himself by punching him, the way Kamina did for Simon.
Simon: ROSSIUUUUUU! Let's see ya grit those teeth!!!
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: The holy book that Father Magin had given Rossiu as he left Adai (Since neither one of them had learned to read) turns out to be full of meaningless scribbles that could not match any form of writing past or present.
