Tropes

  • Genre Savvy: Splinter quotes a TV commercial citing that Donatello's plan to clone himself is a plan just begging to go horribly wrong.
Splinter: Wisdom can appear in many places.
  • Insufferable Genius: While Donatello is a Gentleman and a Scholar, his clone claims to be smarter and stronger than everyone else and doesn't waste any time flaunting it. Pinky McFingers even tricks him into building a cloning machine for them by prodding his ego.
  • The Reliable One: Deconstructed. Donatello is The Smart Guy and the most tech savvy ("does machines") of the group, and since he and his family all live in the sewer, he's the only one who keeps all of their appliances working. By the start of this episode, he finds this dependency stifling and resents being the "handyman", going on strike and cloning himself so that he could finds some me-time.
  • Villain Team-Up: The Rat King gets recruited by Pinky McFingers and they come up with a deal. Rat King floods the cit streets with his army of rats, McFingers and his mobsters clean out the city of all its wealth and the Rat King can claim sovereignty over Manhattan ("Ratropolis"). That is until McFingers kidnaps the Donatello clone, in which case they drop their old plan with the intent on using the clone.
