Go To

Shredder and Krang make one last-ditch effort to energize the Technodrome by stealing energy modules from the space research center.

Tropes:

  • The Bad Guy Wins: Shredder's Red Herring gambit works and the Technodrome is back to full power.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Michelangelo lampshades that recent episodes have been Shredder and Krang stealing power of some kind, leading to the turtles correctly assuming that not only are they trying to power the Technodrome, but Shredder and Krang's situation is in decline and they are getting desperate.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: To get through the fort without being noticed, the Turtles' disguise themselves using broken robot parts.
  • "Everybody Laughs" Ending: In spite of the situation with Shredder and Krang having repowered the Technodrome, Shredder and Turtles laugh as Michaelangelo lives up to his claim of eating a comic book.
  • Hollywood Hacking: Shredder manages to hack into and reprogram an advanced super-computer remotely from the Technodrome in under a minute. Remember that this show predates WiFi and Krang is supposed to be the tech-savvy one.
  • Mineral MacGuffin: There's only one trilithium crystal on the planet and its locked in a vault at Fort Charles. Shredder manages to turn it into a Red Herring for the turtles, since the crystals are too unstable to use as a power-source.
  • Potty Emergency: Referenced when Donatello leads the Turtles to a restroom while they're being chased by the fort's drones.
Raphael: You should've taken care of that before we left.
  • Tempting Fate: Michaelangelo does this twice.
    • After the Turtles shut down the fort's computer and save April, Michaelangelo comments surprise that Shredder hasn't tried for the trilithium crystal. Seconds later, a module containing Shredder bursts through the floor.
    • At the end of the episode, Michaelangelo comments that if the villains ever get the Technodrome recharged, he'll eat one of his comic books...right before the Turtles see April's news report about Rocksteady and Bebop's theft during their ordeal. Raphael hands Michaelangelo a bottle of ketchup and he takes a bite out of the comic.
  • Toxic Phlebotinum: According to Krang, trilithium crystal makes for a volatile energy source and could vaporize them if they ever tried to use it.
