Recap / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) S03E33 "Case of the Hot Kimono"

Go To

During a visit from April's Aunt Agatha, Master Splinter's kimono is stolen leading the turtles to am investigation of a kimono based crime wave. Meanwhile April and Vernon are kidnapped by notorious gangster Don Turtelli.

Tropes:

  • Ascended Extra: Don Turtelli only appeared briefly in "Burnes' Blues" for one gag where he mistakenly confused "turtles" for his own name and thought Mr. Thompson and Vernon were spies infiltrating his organization. Here he's the main villain of the episode.
  • Contrived Coincidence: What are the odds that the map was on Splinter's iconic kimono the entire time?
  • The Family for the Whole Family: Don Turtelli exemplifies this.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Don Turtelli looks right at the camera when complaining about his henchmen.
  • Retcon: Don Turtelli looked completely different in his first appearance, being shorter, overweight, and having brown hair instead of black. He still operates using Tickle Torture on his victims though. That said, it is possible that the Turtelli from the previous episode could have been a front man for the real one here.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Everything Turtelli did in this episode turns out to be for nothing. The map to the treasure that he was looking for on one of the kimonos was already discovered, on an expedition by Aunt Agatha no less.
  • Shout-Out: April's detective aunt is Named Agatha Marple as a reference to Agatha Christie and her famous character Miss Marple.
  • Tickle Torture: Don "the tickler" Turtelli subjects April and Vernon to this, tickling their feet with a feather to make them talk. Vernon spills his guts(despite not knowing anything) but April is made of sterner stuff. Oddly while he tickles April's bare foot, Vernon is still ticked even though he has on a sock.
