Badass in Distress: In spite of all of his supernatural abilities, after being paralyzed, Derek finds his survival resting on solely on Stiles.
Compromising Call: When his phone rings while he's breaking into Gerard's safe, Scott mistakes Stiles' call for this, not realizing that Stiles is calling because he and Derek desperately need Scott's help.
Internal Reveal: Gerard Argent learns that Scott is a werewolf.
The Paralyzer: The kanima's primary weapon is its tail which allows it to completely paralyze its victim with a single strike. Anyone hit has full awareness of their surrounding but no ability to control their body from the neck down beyond automated responses such as breathing.
Rescue Reversal: Derek jumps between Stiles and the kanima, attempting to use his werewolf abilities to safeguard the human, only to be struck by the creature and paralyzed. When he and Stile stumble into the pool, it's up to Stiles to keep Derek from drowning until they can figure out away to get past the kanima to safety.
Sadistic Choice: Stiles has to choose between keeping Derek afloat and hope the paralytic wears off so Derek can fight the kanima before Stiles tires of treading water or let Derek, risking him drowning, in hopes of getting to his phone on the side of the pool and calling Scott for rescue without getting attacked by the kanima.
