Recap / Teen Titans Go S 4 E 10 Movie Night

Go To

The Titans argue over what to watch on Movie Night, with each Titan wanting to see a specific genre. When their arguing leads to accidentally breaking their TV, they must find and set up a replacement, with each step of the plan reflecting a different movie genre.

  • Brick Joke: When the Titans are arguing over what movie to actually watch for Movie Night, Beast Boy nominates a movie that just has the cover of "B.B.'s Movie", claiming it's the best film ever. At the end of the episode, with all of the other Titans injured from the microwave shooting popcorn at them, Beast Boy gets to select his movie. It turns out to just be a home movie of him dancing to celebrate Movie Night, irritating the other Titans.
  • Genre Roulette: Finding a replacement older-model TV from the Titan Tower basement containing creepy dolls and one of Raven's demons is depicted as horror, setting it up is high-stakes action, trying to find the remote is a noir mystery, fighting over the remote afterwards is a Western showdown followed by kung-fu action, and the microwave going berserk and shooting out popcorn is a war drama.
  • Lip Lock: Parodied during the part where everyone is fighting over the remote control, to reference its use in classic dubs of kung-fu movies.
  • Taking the Bullet: Robin jumps in the way of some popcorn kernels being shot at Starfire when the microwave goes wild, getting knocked unconscious. Starfire stopping to mourn leads to it being a Senseless Sacrifice when a whole bag of popcorn is then shot out, lands at her feet, and explodes like a grenade.
  • Wire Dilemma: While trying to set up the old TV using newer cables, Cyborg tells Beast Boy that he has a limited time to cut the red wire. Beast Boy initially cuts the wrong red wire, which somehow disables all security at Arkham, but then gets it right on the second try.
