Recap / Teen Titans Go S 3 E 35 And 36 Operation Dude Rescue

Go To

In this two part episode, Starfire and Raven team up with fellow females Ravager, Jinx, and Terra to save the boys who were captured by The Brain.

This episode contains the following Tropes:

  • Cliffhanger: Part 1 ends with Starfire and Raven intentionally making one instead of immediately raiding The Brain's headquarters, stating "We'll pause here and build up the suspense."
  • Confetti Drop: The bucket in Jinx's cell is directly addressed; it is full of confetti.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: When the three male Titans decide to be chivalrous by taking on The Brain on their own without endangering the girls, they're taken out in seconds, with The Brain even remarking "That was remarkably easy."
  • Distressed Dude: The main plot is that Robin, Beast Boy, ad Cybor have been taken prisoner by The Brain, and Raven and Starfire recruit some female villains to get them out.... all while the boys make various attempts to get themselves out.
  • Enemy Mine: Starfire and Raven break Jinx out of her jail cell and free Terra from her "trash hole", as well as recruit Ravager, partly so they can help free the male Titans and mostly because they were tired of going on adventures with the boys and wanting a fun girls' night out.
  • Obviously Evil: Terra makes minimal effort to hide her plan to betray the other girls, though the other girls more or less overlook it until they're all captured as well.
  • Old-School Chivalry: Part 1 starts with the male Titans deciding to act like perfectly chivalrous gentlemen for Raven and Starfire, only to annoy and disturb the girls with their attempts, such as Beast Boy thinking the girls are chilly upon opening the fridge and offering them the same coat he used to cover up a puddle earlier.
  • Potty Emergency: The puddle on the floor that Beast Boy covers up with a coat was actually the result of him being too hydrated and not making it to the bathroom in time.
  • Previously on…: Part 2 starts with Starfire showing some out-of-context clips from Part 1, with Raven stating she should've shown more useful parts such as how and why the boys were captured.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: At the end of Part 2, the girls successfully reach the boys...and are put off by them continuing to abide by Old-School Chivalry, leaving them in their cell so they can go get milkshakes while Robin comes up with another Time Machine-centric plan.
  • Time Machine: Robin's plan to escape from jail in Part 1 is to wait in the cell for decades, then use future technology to come back in time and free themselves. It almost works, with elderly Robin, Cyborg, and Beast Boy arriving in a time machine, but then the elderly Robin mixes up the button to open the cells with the one that sets off the alarm, and they all end up in a cell together. In Part 2, they do it again with their future ghosts, who turn out to be too intangible to press the buttons at all, and then yet again with whoever their ghosts will reincarnate into, who turn out to be wild animals that don't listen to orders, and then yet again with whatever their animal forms will evolve into, which results in cavemen that try to destroy the buttons entirely. By the time the girls actually arrive, the outside of their cell is filled with time machines and the inside is filled with distant future versions of themselves.
