Recap / Teen Titans Go S 1 E 4 Dog Hand

Go To

Raven's father, namely Trigon, comes to visit her and her friends. Raven isn't too excited about this, knowing why he's really come.

Tropes in this Episode Include:

  • An Aesop: If somebody tells you that their parent is abusive, believe them, no matter how nice they appear to be to you.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Despite his fearsome reputation, Trigon presents himself as a personal and easygoing guy in front of the other Titans. It's just an act to get them to sway Raven on his side, and he definitely catches them off-guard when he orders Raven to kill them as a final task.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: When Trigon attempts to kill the Titans, Robin, Beast Boy and Cyborg use the gifts he gave them to beat him. Likewise Raven uses her newfound power that was recently taught to her by him to send him back to his dimension.
  • Jive Turkey: When the Teen Titans request new powers from Trigon, Starfire wishes for the "power" to talk and act like a normal teenage. Because of this...
  • The Load: Starfire's the only one who doesn't partake in defeating Trigon at the end of the episode.
  • Sitcom Homage Episode: The episode plays out like a sitcom, with the plot being about a strained daddy-daughter relationship and having stereotypical sitcom tropes like hokey music cues and a laugh track.
  • Trivial Title: The first episode to have a title derived from something that is hardly plot relevant. To be exact, it's named after Cyborg's wish that gets granted by Trigon.
