Recap / Teen Titans Go S 1 E 38 Breakfast Cheese

Go To

Starfire convinces the other reluctant Titans to try defeating their enemies using kindness and compassion instead of violence and aggression. It all culminates to a confrontation of morals with the H.I.V.E. Five.

This episode contains examples of:

  • An Aesop: Violence and hostility is not really an option, since there's always a better option that doesn't involve violence and hostility to solve situations and on how to truly deal with conflicts. After all, it is indeed effective whenever it comes to the greater good and to reform villains as well. And so does saving the world with conversations, combined with peaceful words, facts, reasoning, logic, and peacemaking.
  • Book Ends: The episode begins and ends with the Titans fighting the H.I.V.E. Five, violently in the first case and with compassion in the second.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Starfire realizes the Titans are excessive in punishing the H.I.V.E.
  • Felony Misdemeanor: The Titans show disgust at the H.I.V.E. for loitering.
Beast Boy: Look at them loitering so hard.
    Robin: Disgusting!
  • Friendship Song: "Peace and Love".
  • Higher Understanding Through Drugs: Robin begrudgingly following Starfire's advice to be peaceful towards a spider leads to him being bitten by it and swelling from the reaction. When the venom reaches his brain, he experiences a psychedelic trip that results in him becoming in tune with everyone's emotions and fully embracing a peaceful way of life.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Starfire does this to the Titans to convince them to listen to her. Later, she does it to Robin to convince him not to hurt the spider.
  • Sociopathic Hero: The Titans except for Starfire.
  • Smiting Evil Feels Good: After finishing beating the H.I.V.E., the Titans (sans Starfire) talk about how good they feel about beating them up.
  • Stock Scream: Beast Boy's enthusiastic ramblings on enjoying inflicting pain on his enemies are accompanied by the Howie Long Scream and the Insane Tantrum Scream.
  • Tempting Fate: Starfire warns the other Titans that their violent tendencies will carry over to their domestic lives. Cyborg scoffs at this. Cue to the Titans eating pizza like savages.
  • Turn the Other Cheek: What Starfire teaches the other Titans.
