Ted and John's Halloween plans are put on hold when Blaire forces Ted to be her designated driver for the night. Susan tries to cheer up John by finding him a new friend to hang out with.
- Bait-and-Switch: The episode makes it seem like Blaire's professor wants to get into her pants. As it turns out, it's Ted who he wants to stuff.
- Beyond the Impossible: McDonald's hot apple pies are somehow hot enough to set nearby items on fire. The second one especially, as it had been spending two months in a freezer.
- Call-Back: Blaire reminds Ted how he owes her because she covered for him and John in the previous episode.
- Creepy Uncle: Implied with Blaire, who states that she can tell when she's being hit on because she had seven uncles.
- Dirty Old Man: Ted believes Blaire's college professor to be this, convinced that he's lusting after Blaire and attempting to seduce her. Turns out, it's not Blaire he's lusting after, but Ted.
- Fanservice: Blaire dresses up as Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman for Halloween.
- Halloween Episode: The episode takes place on Halloween.
- Heel Realization: John and Ted spend every Halloween throwing eggs at trick-or-treaters with lame costumes. When John mistakenly hits Blaire and Ted with an ostrich egg, it makes Ted feel guilty and insists that he and John stop doing it.
- Overly Long Gag: Blaire sneaking up on Ted while wearing a blindfold.
- Poor Man's Porn: Will's mom won't allow him to look at porn, so he draws his own, which he shows to John.
- Properly Paranoid: Ted is certain that Professor Damon is attempting to seduce Blaire. While he is right that Professor Damon is a Dirty Old Man, it turns out that he is actually attempting to seduce Ted.

- Ted dresses up as an Ewok, while Blaire dresses up as Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman from Batman Returns. She gets mistaken for Batman though while Ted gets mistaken for Lawrence of Arabia.
- Wham Line: After John spends most of the episode hanging out with his mom's friend's middle-aged son, the episode ends with a teenage boy knocking on the door and stating that he was at a party and his mom told him to come over and hang out with John.John: You're Carol's son?!
