Recap / Tangled: The Series S2E11 "Max and Eugene in Peril on the High Seas"

Go To

Stranded at sea, Max and Eugene are saved by a passing ship, only to discover that they've boarded a prison barge that's recently succumbed to mutiny by the inmates.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Bring My Brown Pants: Implied; The barge captain asks for his "sailing pants" after being frightened by Pascal.
  • The Bus Came Back: As noted by Eugene, most of the criminals captured in Corona during the First Season (or the original movie itself) make a return appearance here.
  • Call-Back: After Eugene ribs Max about his violation of the property damage rule, Max rips the pages out and chews it up in the same manner he shredded Flynn's wanted poster in the movie.
  • Good Cop/Bad Cop: Eugene and Max use this on Dale, the fake The Giovanni. Rapunzel does this with Pascal against the ferry captain later.
  • Great Big Book of Everything: Max's copy of A Compendium of Corona Law & Procedure verges on this. It seems to have a rule that covers every possible situation involving criminals.
  • Pocket Protector: Eugene gets fatally stabbed by one of the Stabbington Brothers, but then it's revealed it only stabbed into the Corona Laws book he had in his coat.
  • Shmuck Bait: Eugene comes across a sign that says "Do not lean on the railing". He couldn't resist, and the railing breaks, causing him to fall overboard.
  • Special Edition Title: After the standard theme, the episode begins with a brief title sequence reminiscent of a Golden Age Hollywood Swashbuckler, complete with Retraux Disney logo, befitting its high-seas adventure plot.
