"Thunder Dog" provides examples of:

  • The Alleged Car: The T.U.F.F. Mobile becomes this as a result of Bird Brain's thunder cannon. With each blast, it loses more and more parts.
  • Anti-Villain: Bird Brain's henchmen, Owl and Bat, don't really do much other than say "Who?" and "Where?".
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Just before Bird Brain robs the kitchen appliance store, Dudley chains himself to an aircraft carrier so he doesn't have to get near the thunder cannon. Kitty destroys the lock and manages to lure Dudley into the T.U.F.F. Mobile by tossing a tennis ball into it.
  • Circling Birdies: Owl has stars spinning around his head when Bird Brain tosses a toaster at him.
  • Egg-Laying Male: When Bird Brain gets arrested near the end of the episode, he lays an egg for comedic effect.
  • Fear of Thunder: Dudley is revealed to be afraid of thunder in this episode. Kitty helps him overcome his fear so he can defeat Bird Brain.
  • Got Me Doing It: This exchange when Zippy finds Dudley and Kitty catching up to her and Bird Brain.
Zippy: Look, boss! Agents Puppy and Katswell are headed this way!
Bird Brain: Who? Where? Great, now I sound like my idiot henchmen. As usual, I blame you, Zippy.
    Zippy: Why?
Bird Brain: Ugh, now they've got you doing it!
  • Here We Go Again!: At the end of the episode, after Dudley is given a medal for overcoming his fear of thunder and foiling Bird Brain's evil plan, Tammy comes by with a message from Dudley's dentist, who wants Dudley to come in for a root canal. Dudley chains himself to a space shuttle that takes him to the moon to get out of having to go to the dentist.
  • Magic Feather: Kitty gives Dudley a collar that is supposed to reduce fear. The collar is ordinary, however.
  • Minion with an F in Evil:
    • Owl and Bat usually respond with "Who?" and "Where?" resulting in Who's on First? moments.
    • When Bird Brain robs the kitchen appliance store, Bat takes the stuff that Owl put in his Whirly Bird and puts it back in the store.
  • One-Word Vocabulary: All Owl ever says is "Who?" and all Bat ever says is "Where?". This infuriates Bird Brain repeatedly.
  • Owls Ask "Who?": Owl only ever says "Who?", resulting in Who's on First? moments, much to Bird Brain's ire.
  • Prematurely Bald: A variant; Bird Brain reveals that the stress of having to work with his henchmen is causing him to prematurely molt.
  • Rump Roast: At the beginning of this episode, Dudley is given a medal of bravery for diving through a wall of flames to save the Chief's bag of Korn Nutz (It Makes Sense in Context). Dudley's tail catches fire as a result, and he pours water on it to put it out.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Between his ditzy wife Zippy and Owl and Bat constantly asking "Who?" and "Where?", Bird Brain says this trope word-for-word.
  • Who's on First?: Given that Owl only says "Who?" and Bat only says "Where?", this trope naturally comes into play.

"Snap Dad" provides examples of:

  • 30 Minutes, or It's Free!: When Snaptrap calls D.O.O.M. to tell them he's quitting to join T.U.F.F., Ollie answers the phone with "Diabolical Order of Mayhem. We deliver evil in thirty minutes, or it's free."
  • Affectionate Nickname: Snaptrap calls Peg "Peggy-Poo" during his brief romance with her.
  • Bland-Name Product: On Snaptrap's first day as a T.U.F.F. agent, Dudley is about to have the last donut from Dumpin' Donuts for his breakfast, but Snaptrap snatches it from him.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: When the Chief tells Dudley, Kitty, and Snaptrap that the bank is being robbed, they find that Snaptrap's henchmen are the robbers. Dudley and Kitty get caught in a trap, leaving only Snaptrap to stop them. Although he has no problem with blasting Larry, Snaptrap says that Ollie and Francisco are like family to him, as Ollie brought him stolen comic books when he had his wisdom teeth removed, and Francisco apologized for eating his pet hamster when he lost it. As a result, he lets them get away with their stolen money.
  • Furry Confusion: This episode reveals that Snaptrap, an anthroporphic rat, used to have a (non-sentient) pet hamster named Li'l Snappy until Francisco ate it.
  • Gilligan Cut: When Peg suggests to the T.U.F.F. agents that they hire Snaptrap to be an agent of T.U.F.F., Kitty says the Chief would never hire a villain like Snaptrap. In the very next scene, the Chief says "Snaptrap, you're hired!". When Kitty stares at him, the Chief tells her that as an ex-criminal, Snaptrap knows how the criminal mind works and can help them get the jump on every villain in Petropolis.
  • Here We Go Again!: At the end of the episode, after Peg and Snaptrap break up, Peg ends up falling in love with the Chameleon.
  • If You Die, I Call Your Stuff: A non-lethal example; Snaptrap calls his henchmen to tell them he's quitting D.O.O.M.. After Snaptrap hangs up, his henchmen all call dibs on his things.
  • Impact Silhouette: The Chameleon leaves a hole shaped like his body in a wall he runs through after finding out that Dudley is Peg's son.
  • Interspecies Romance: Peg, a dog, has a temporary romance with Snaptrap, a rat, and at the end of the episode, the Chameleon as well.
  • Onion Tears: When Peg calls Dudley to tell him that she's proud of both him and Snaptrap for working together to keep Petropolis free of crime, she is crying. It is then revealed that she is chopping onions for the meatloaf dinner she's making.
  • Ow, My Body Part!: Larry says "Ow, my eye!" when Snaptrap blasts him (out of hatred rather than trying to stop his henchmen from robbing the Petropolis bank, as he says Ollie and Francisco are like family to him.)
  • Literal Metaphor: Peg isn't too broken up about Snaptrap returning to his evil ways, saying she saw the writing on the wall... because Snaptrap literally wrote it on the wall.
  • Look Behind You:
    • When Snaptrap robs a vending machine for some trail mix, Dudley reminds him that as a T.U.F.F. agent, he shouldn't steal. Snaptrap then says, "Hey, look, it's the Easter Bunny!" to distract Dudley while he makes off with the stolen trail mix.
    • The Chameleon also does this to Dudley and Peg at the end of the episode when he tries to escape from the latter.
  • Love Redeems: Invoked and Subverted; when Snaptrap agrees to go straight because he's fallen in love with Peg, he was actually sincere about it, trying his best to perform a Heel–Face Turn. He eventually breaks it off with her because of his inability to actually act good and the fact he still cares too much for his former D.O.O.M. teammates (except for Larry) to turn on them.
  • Never My Fault: When Dudley, Kitty, and Snaptrap investigate a warehouse for robberies, they find Bird Brain stealing bird baths. Snaptrap gives Bird Brain away, causing the latter to escape, then he blames Dudley and Kitty for letting him get away.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: At the end of the episode, when the Chameleon dates Peg, he breaks up with her when he finds out that Dudley is her son.
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: Dudley is so disgusted over Snaptrap dating Peg that he throws up at least once.
  • Skewed Priorities: When the Chief informs Dudley, Kitty, and Snaptrap that Mad Cow has escaped from Prison, Snaptrap immediately goes after Mad Cow... because the latter owes him five dollars.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: This exchange when Snaptrap reveals to Dudley that he met Peg at the laundromat.
Peg: Well, a big, strong, handsome man like you shouldn't be walking around with ketchup stains on his shirt.
Snaptrap: Yeah... ketchup. That's what it was. Lots and lots of ketchup.
  • Title Drop: When Dudley talks to Snaptrap at T.U.F.F. HQ, Snaptrap tells him that the way things are going between him and Peg, soon he might be calling him "Snap Dad".
  • Token Evil Teammate: During his brief tenure as a T.U.F.F. agent, Snaptrap's temporary Heel–Face Turn was foiled by the fact that he was both a kleptomaniac Jerkass and generally incompetent as a good guy.
