"Purr-fect Partners" provides examples of:

  • Accidental Hero: Dudley chases his chew toy, which winds up in the possession of D.O.O.M.. Dudley follows D.O.O.M. to their headquarters and manages to defeat three of Snaptrap's henchmen. He also had Snaptrap cornered, and Snaptrap would have surrendered the Kruger rat to him had he not had his mind more on his chew toy. The Chief is so impressed with what Dudley did that he hires him as a T.U.F.F. agent and Kitty's partner.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Keswick discovers that Dudley is the perfect combination of every breed of dog in existence, giving him the skills of each one (i.e. the nose of a bloodhound, speed of a greyhound, strength of a boxer, etc.) He must have quite a family tree. He's also got a dash of Billy goat, which Keswick isn't quite sure how to explain.
  • Alliterative Title: Purr-fect Partners.
  • Artifact of Doom: Snaptrap steals the Kruger Rat from the Petropolis museum and uses it to control every rat in the city to serve his evil purposes.
  • Attentive Shade Lowering: Kitty lowers her glasses hands-free while driving the Tuff Mobile and pondering over having Dudley as a new partner.
  • Comically Missing the Point: This exchange when Kitty finds out that the Chief has hired Dudley to be a T.U.F.F. agent:
    Kitty: Are you nuts?
Chief: No, Agent Nuts is over there.
(Cut to Agent Nuts stuffing his cheeks with acorns.)
  • Dartboard of Hate: A variant; Kitty has a punching bag that resembles Snaptrap, whom she manages to kick the head off of.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: How Dudley and Kitty got their fresh start.
  • Four-Fingered Hands: Kitty has these. This becomes especially obvious in the scene where she and Snaptrap prepare to battle each other:
Snaptrap: Ready to lose one of your nine lives?
Kitty: I'd rather use my ten claws! (brandishing her claws, of which there are clearly only eight)
  • Furry Confusion: Snaptrap, a large anthropomorphic rat, uses the Kruger Rat to control the minds of all rats in the city, which are Feral rats.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Discussed; when Snaptrap introduces himself to the citizens of Petropolis, a hippo lady guesses that he's the Kangarooster, a bouncing bird who lays exploding eggs.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Kitty as a museum tour guide. Though it might fooled first-time watchers if they see this episode first.
  • Trap Door: After Dudley manages to free himself and Kitty from Snaptrap, he presses a button that activates a trap door Snaptrap is standing on, causing Snaptrap to fall into a cage below.
  • Two out of Three Ain't Bad: This exchange when Dudley and Peg leave the chew toy store:
Dudley: Come on, Mom, let's do this! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it!
Peg: No, Dudley. Not until you tell me what good doggies always do.
Dudley: Always tell the truth, never take stuff that doesn't belong to you, and don't chew your butt in public!
    (Dudley chews his butt)
Peg: Two out of three, not bad.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Snaptrap escapes in his escape pod after Dudley tells him to give him back his chew toy.
  • Welcome Episode: This episode shows how Dudley became a T.U.F.F. agent.
  • You Need a Breath Mint:
Kitty: I speak 120 dialects fluently, mastered all forms of martial arts, and my claws are registered as lethal weapons.
Dudley: Maybe you should "register" YOUR BREATH!

"Doom-mates" provides examples of:

  • AcCENT upon the Wrong SylLABle: Throughout this episode, Dudley pronounces the Chameleon's name as "Cham-A-Le-On", eventually resulting in Kitty and the Chameleon himself doing the same.
  • Ash Face:
    • Happens to Kitty multiple times when Dudley blasts her with a gun, and also when the Chameleon blows her up with a bomb multiple times.
    • Also happens to Dudley when he activates the T.U.F.F. Mobile, which burns him with its tailpipe.
Dudley: Really should have read the manual.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: The Chameleon has a hard time focusing on his schemes over his stomach, especially when ladybugs are involved.
  • Bad "Bad Acting": This exchange after Dudley manages to trap the Chameleon in his own Cat-Atomic Bomb:
Kitty: Oh, no. My whiskers are still gone.
Dudley: Oh, no. Don't fall on the bomb detonator.
    (Cue fall)
  • Big Ball of Violence: Dudley and Kitty make this up after a Wimp Fight for a few seconds.
  • Cats Have Nine Lives: This episode has the Chameleon try to murder Kitty by blowing her up one for each of her nine lives with his Cat-Atomic bomb. Interestingly, there were a total of ten explosives on hand, though he probably wanted to make sure she was dead.
  • Comically Missing the Point: This exchange when Dudley finds Kitty captured by a disguised Chameleon:
Dudley: Hey, it's Kitty on a pogo stick!
Kitty: (as she frees her mouth from the Chameleon's tongue) It's the Chameleon, you idiot!
Dudley: Oh no! It's the Chameleon on a pogo stick!
  • Got Me Doing It:
    • Kitty ends up saying "Or should I call you... THE CHAMELEON???", which was said by Dudley.
    • Both she and the Chameleon also pick up Dudley's habit of mispronouncing the Chameleon's name as "Cham-A-Le-On".
  • Harmless Liquefaction: This episode ends with the Chameleon getting blown up twice and his malfunctioning transformation suit electrocuting him until he melts (with a fart sound).
Chameleon: I will now defeat you, by turning into a pile of smoldering goo! [melts] Feeeaar meeeee...!
  • Hollywood Chameleons: More of Voluntary Shapeshifting than blending into backgrounds, the Chameleon can use his suit to change into other people.
  • Human Hammer-Throw: Dudley uses Kitty as a mallet to attack Keswick and The Chief when he suspects them of being The Chameleon.
  • Mistaken for Transformed: Due to Dudley's extreme stupidity, Dudley keeps mistaking both Kitty and her prized possessions for the Chameleon in disguise and zapping them with his blaster.
  • Ominous Pipe Organ: The Chameleon has one in his prison cell, which Dudley thinks is really him in disguise at first. The Chief tells him that every cell in the prison has a pipe organ, but not every cell has a light bulb (which the Chameleon is really disguised as).
  • Revenge: The Chameleon escapes from prison, and is coming after Kitty for sending him there in the first place.
  • Reptiles Are Abhorrent: The Chameleon.
  • Running Gag: "Or should I call you... THE CHAMELEON???"
  • Trap Door: Kitty sends Dudley down one after he blasts her in the face, having mistaken her for the Chameleon.
  • Wimp Fight: Dudley and Kitty fight like children and create a Big Ball of Violence.
