Go To

"Sandra's Fight"

Sandra starts an effort to unionize Cloud 9, but the timing couldn't be worse: corporate is deciding whether to close the Ozark Highlands store to make way for a distribution center. With Jonah's help, Amy tries to suppress Sandra's activism and negotiate with corporate to keep her store alive.

Meanwhile, everybody learns that Garrett freed Dina's birds and turns against him as a result.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Call-Back:
    • Ozark Highland's rivalry with Bel-Ridge returns when it comes down to which of the two stores to close, and Amy claims that they vandalized the store.
    • Amy sneakily reminds Laurie that she learned about Laurie's cocaine addiction in "Minor Crimes," blackmailing Laurie into allowing the Ozark Highlands store to stay open.
  • Even the Loving Hero Has Hated Ones: Everybody in the store resents Garrett for accidentally losing Dina's birds and then lying about it and having Sex for Solace with her, including Glenn, who usually has good faith in everybody.
  • Trouble Entendre: Right when Laurie's about to tell corporate about how much she hates Amy, Amy interrupts her and claims she drank a lot of Coca-Cola before she came here, reminding Laurie of how difficult it is to break a Coke addiction. This is a reminder that Amy knows about Laurie's cocaine addiction and is willing to blackmail her to keep the store alive.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Everyone knows what Garrett did to Dina's birds as a result of the previous episode, making him hated by everyone as a result. Even Glenn is upset with him.
    • Jonah is very disappointed in Amy's efforts to suppress unionization, believing she's just concerned about her job and nobody else's, and turns against her to join the union at the end of the episode.
