- Does This Remind You of Anything?: While "singing" a love song to the van, he's backed by footage of a gasoline pump squirting into a car's fuel filler.
- Expy: Sirenhead and Slenderman in the SMG4-verse are somewhat similar to each other. Having an Odd Friendship with Mario and both (in a Meta sense) being Creepy Pastas.
- Halfway Plot Switch: The first third of the episode is about Mario getting separated from Luigi and running away from Siren Head when they get lost in the woods. Then Mario becomes friends with Siren Head, and the rest of the episode focuses on integrating him into normal society by getting him a job and a girlfriend. Lampshaded by the end when Mario realizes he's completely forgotten about Luigi, who gets spit out by Siren Head as a skeleton and complains that he's been dead the whole time.
- I'm Standing Right Here: When Swagmaster says his fire brigade team name is the "Woomy Fire Brigade" and that he came up with it all by himself, we cut to Meggy standing nearby and looking crushed.
- No Social Skills: Siren Head has trouble fitting into society when all he can do is blare his sirens to communicate, scaring everyone away.
- Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: Zig-Zagged. Mario figures out Siren Head isn't out to get people; he just wants to make friends. In the end, however, it's revealed he ate Luigi when he coughs up his still living bones.
- Recycled Premise: Both this episode and "Lost in the Woods" start with the main characters getting lost in the woods.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Mario runs for the hills when he first meets Siren Head.
