The Sun Riders are back!
The Hyperforce arrive to a volcanic planet after receiving a distress call, and they met with some old enemies, the Sun Riders, who claim to have changed and ask the Hyperforce's help to protect a mining colony, and a distrustful Chiro acompannies the Riders to see if they're heroes for real now.

This episode provides examples of:

  • An Aesop: Sometimes is necessary to forget the past to help others.
  • Broken Pedestal: Chiro at the beginning of the episode, is still bitter towards the Sun Riders because of their betrayal.However this changes after the Sun Riders prove themselves to have changed for good.
    Chiro: They act as good guys, but that's all of it, an act.
  • Call-Back: Chiro has several flashbacks of "The Sun Riders" when revealing to the mining colony they used to work for Skeleton King.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: The Sun Riders sacrifice their robot, the Nebutron 8 to destroy Skeleton King's giant squids.
    Antauri: You sacrificed your own ship?
    Chiro: (smiling) For the good of others.
  • Internal Reveal: Chiro learns that the Skeleton King's mere presence drains the Sun Riders of their life force, turning them into old people. The mining colony also learns that the Sun Riders previously worked for the Skeleton King and that he gave them their powers.
  • Memento MacGuffin: The Solar Shield to Chiro after the Sun Riders allow him to keep it.
  • Power Source: Volcanic Diamonds in the volcanic planet. According to Gibson they're natural batteries which hold a huge amount of energy. They power the Sun Riders's weapons, Skeleton King's squid army and at the end, The Super Robot.
  • Rebuilt Pedestal: Chiro regains his faith in his heroes after they save him and the mining colony.
  • Reformed, but Rejected: The Sun Riders did change and now use their powers to protect a mining colony. However Chiro doesn't trust them until they save him at the end.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Chiro with the Sun Riders, specifically Johnny. However, they later work together well after Johnny saves Chiro.
  • Tracking Device: Gibson secretly puts one on one Formless at Aurora's suggestion. It later allows Chiro and the Sun Riders to find the formless's underground base and to discover their plan of creating an army of volcanic squids.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: The Sun Riders, Johnny by saving Chiro and showing concern for Aurora. Aurora by giving Chiro a Solar Shield to protect and camouflage himself and kindly puts it on him while promising to not electrocute him again and allowing him to keep it after finishing their mission. And Super Quasar, when giving Chiro a friendly pat in the back.
