Chiro's heroes in person, or so they seem to be...

This episode provides examples of:

  • All Your Base Are Belong to Us: After the Sun Riders reveal themselves to be real villains working for the Skeleton King, the Hyperforce fight them and then flee on Aurora's motorcycle, which enable the Sun Riders to steal the Super Robot. Also the Hyperforce used said villains's own robot, The Nebutron 7 to fight them.
  • Blatant Lies: The Sun Riders, when meeting Chiro lie to him saying that they renounced their life as performers to fight true villains, specifically Skeleton King. It turns they were actually working for Skeleton King.
  • Broken Pedestal: Skeleton King is displeased Sun Riders failed to destroy Chiro and the monkeys, but destroying the boy's faith in them is a good enough accomplishment thanks to their betrayal. Even so, Chiro is reminded by his friends that he should still follow the ideals of what made them heroes in thw first place instead of what they are now.
Chiro: I can't believe this!, my heroes are nothing but gadget bad guys.
  • Electric Torture: The Sun Riders trick Chiro into wearing a jacket which they use to electrocutate him before revealing their true colors.
  • Evil Costume Switch: The Super Robot after being taken over by the Sun Riders, has its Torso Tank with their white and orange colors and also its eyes turn red.
  • Guys Smash, Girls Shoot: While both Super Quasar and Aurora Six have ranged powers, their fighting styles exemplify this, with Aurora using unnamed gun blasts (and kicks) in combat, while Super Quasar uses a lot more melee attacks and the occasional helmet beam.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard: The Hyperforce use the Sun Riders's prop Nebutron 7 to fight the villains, and although it's destroyed, it enables the Hyperforce to get close tothe Super Robot and deactivate it.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: The Sun Riders are this, as they were tired of only acting and joined Skeleton King to get real powers, much to Chiro's disappointment.
  • I Surrender, Suckers: Played with, as Chiro and Gibson pretend to do so to trick Johnny into using his black hole gloves which backfire and send him flying.
  • Show Within a Show: The Sun Riders
  • The Bad Guy Wins: The Hyperforce managed to defeat the Sun Riders and regain their Super Robot, but they destroyed Chiro's faith in his heroes as Skeleton King pointed.
  • The Mutiny: The Sun Riders try to do this with Skeleton King once they took over the Super Robot when the latter ordered them to destroy the Hyperforce. However, he just drains their life force, turning them into old people if they didn't obey him. So they agree to keep working for him.
  • Underestimating Badassery: The Sun Riders laugh at the Hyperforce when seeing them fight against them with their modified Nebutron 7 prop. However, this allows the Hyperforce to deactivate the Super Robot before they could destroy them with it.
  • Unrealistic Black Hole: Johnny Sunspot's power. Lampshaded by Gibson.
    • Although by RL standards, Gibson's version isn't much better and the ending comes out of nowhere. While black holes are "unstable", this means they'll (harmlessly) vaporize if not sufficiently large, they're made of matter not energy, and as far as I'm aware there's no way a pair of "black hole gloves" could destroy the universe, even if clapped together.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: The Sun Riders pretend to be chased and attacked by Skeleton King's formless to trick the Hyperforce into letting them inside their Super Robot.
