Go To

Airdate: Monday, June 21, 2004

Sender: John Newell, ON

Strong Bad: (singing) Oh, here comes little email, with a gun in his hand...

"Johnny Well, ON" ("Woah, I left my Johnny Well on!") wants to know how Dangeresque 3 is "comeing" along.

Strong Bad: Dangeresque 3 production update! Day 114: Things are come-ing along right on schedule. So far, we seem to have only hit one major snag. Um, and that is I haven't um, made Dangeresque 3 yet...

Hoping to placate his viewers "before you start throwing full wine bottles at your computer screen", Strong Bad offers a "cop-out" in the form of a "digitally remastered director's cut" of Dangeresque 1: Dangeresque Too?

It seems the first installment of the film series has Dangeresque (played by Strong Bad) teaming up with a new partner: Dangeresque Too (played by Homestar Runner). According to some exposition from Renaldo (played by Coach Z), criminal mastermind Perducci (played by the King of Town) has "intercepted the serum at the border", and will kidnap Cutesy Buttons (played by Marzipan) if they don't get that serum through.

After the new partners vent their frustrations in an angry game of racquetball, Dangeresque Too reveals that he knows Perducci's last known location: in Istanbul (played by The Cheat). The two cops/private eyes fly out, and shake down a passerby (played by Strong Sad, but only because Strong Bad holds his sandwich hostage) for information.

Homestar: What do you know about Perducci?
Strong Sad: Only that I am not one of his minions...
Homestar: Well thanks anyways. Move it along, Hot Tub!
Strong Bad: That stranger seemed to know a little bit too little about Perducci...

Sure enough, "Hot Tub" informs Perducci that the Dangeresques are hot on his trail, prompting him to prepare his "secret weapon"...

One "high-scraper" climb later, Dangeresque and Dangeresque Too confront Perducci on the rooftops (played by Bubs' Concession Stand), where he introduces them to "my secret weapon and your doom: Killingyouguy!" (played by Strong Mad). Dangeresque Too takes him out with a spinning kick, and the serum (played by a glass of iced tea) ends up safely in Cutesy Buttons' hands.

Marzipan: Mmm. Thanks for the serum, boys. Now I won't be kidnapped.
Strong Bad: Oh no...
Homestar and Strong Bad: Looks like we're gonna have to jump!
(The two jump off the Concession Stand. Freeze frame as the end credits roll)
Strong Bad: (singing) Today is alright for tonight...
Riding in a Corvette, and feeling all right
Today is all right for tonight!

Tropes:

  • Asymmetric Dilemma: "So far, we seem to have only hit one major snag. Um, and that is I haven't um, made Dangeresque 3 yet."
  • Bad "Bad Acting": As can be expected from the cast of HSR.
Coach Z: Dangeresque? It's Renaldo. I need you back here away, right? I mean, right away!
  • Big Bad: The King of Town plays generic criminal mastermind Perducci.
  • The Brute: Strong Mad plays Perducci's "secret weapon", Killingyouguy.
  • Captain Obvious: On meeting Killingyouguy, Dangeresque's reaction is "That guy is tall."
  • Chewing the Scenery: The King of Town as Perducci, of all characters. Compared to the stiff and wooden delivery of the rest of the cast, he over-acts, if anything.
  • Cool Shades: In addition to Dangeresque's polarized sunglasses, Dangeresque Too sports a pair of shutter-shades.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • The email's release date is reference to Strong Bad's claim in "stunt double" that Dangeresque 3 would be coming out in June of 2004.
    • The Cheat wearing a sandwich board with the word "ISTANBUL" on it might be a nod to him playing "The Popular Vote" wearing a similar costume in "A Decemberween Pageant".
  • Freeze-Frame Ending: In-universe, Dangeresque 1 ends on a freeze-frame of the two Dangeresques jumping off a roof.
  • Info Dump: Coach Z sums up the plot of the movie while waving around a newspaper with the headline "PERDUCCI IS THE BAD GUY".
Renaldo: Perducci's intercepted the serum at the border! If that serum doesn't make it through, he'll kidnap Cutesy Buttons!
  • I Work Alone: "Except when I work with Renaldo! Which is all the time!"
  • Malicious Misnaming: Strong Bad credits Strong Sad as "El Dumpo" in the credits of Dangeresque 1.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Perducci's bodyguard/secret weapon is "Killingyouguy".
  • Obvious Stunt Double: Strong Sad is once again playing a stunt double, this time to Strong Mad as Killingyouguy.
  • One-Steve Limit: Dangeresque's new partner is Dangeresque Too (played by Homestar), and there are more than a few jokes about it.
  • Photo Montage: A series of photos from the production of the movie plays over the end credits for Dangeresque 1.
  • Punctuated Pounding: Strong Sad is, again, the one shouting as he gets pummeled.
Strong Sad: Oof! Ow! Ouff! Ouwh! Getting! Dizzy! Blacking! Out! Oof! Geez! Oouf!
  • Say My Name: Dangeresque and Dangeresque Too shout "PERDUCCI!" in unison when then learn of his diabolical plot.
  • Sequel Episode: This e-mail is a follow-up to "stunt double", which introduced viewers to the Dangeresque franchise.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Strong Bad's email song "Here comes little email with a gun in his hand..." may be a nod to "Little Man With a Gun in His Hand" by Minutemen.
    • The hubcap flying off Dangeresque's car is a nod to Bullitt, the archetypal Cowboy Cop movie.
    • After their game of racquetball, Dangeresque Too angrily asks Dangeresque "What is your malfunction?"
    • The scene where the two Dangeresques climb the side of a building is a reference to the "Bat Climb" sequences from Batman
    • Homestar performs a Hurricane Kick on Killingyouguy, but instead of "Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku", he shouts "The pipes are broken!"
  • Special Effect Failure: Invoked; As with the last Dangeresque movie, there's a number of terrible special effects to be found. This includes The Cheat holding a twig to simulate Dangeresque driving, and Dangeresque Too's glasses falling "sideways" during the wall-climbing scene.
  • Stylistic Suck: The whole film is an amateurish disaster from beginning to end, with terrible acting, writing, costumes, set designs, editing, and special effects all around.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: "What do you know about Perducci?" "Only that I am not one of his minions."
Strong Bad: That stranger seemed to know a little bit too little about Perducci...
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Perducci just seems to... disappear after the Dangersques defeat Killingyouguy and recover the serum.
  • Waxing Lyrical: "I work alone, except when I work with Renaldo, which is all the time!" is taken from the "Theme From Dangeresque 2" on Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits. Dangeresque's office door, which reads "Private Eye/Crooked Cop", is a reference to the same song (he describes himself as both, as well as a secret agent and a celebrity pharmacist).

Today is all right for tonight...
Riding in a Corvette, and feeling all right
All right for tonight!
(The credits for the movie end on a shot of both of the Dangeresques' cool shades under a spotlight, the words "The End?" appearing underneath them. The Paper comes down.)
