On the way to Britannia, the Akagi gets attacked by a large Neuroi. The Strike Witches are called in to deal with the threat, but with some distance to their target it is left to Sakamoto to try and defend the Akagi until they arrive. With the fleet in danger, Miyafuji makes the decision to the join the fight.


Tropes in this episode:

  • Can't Refuse the Call Anymore: Despite Miyafuji's protests against fighting the Neuroi, they don't leave her a choice when they attack the Akagi.
  • Dead All Along: Sakamoto takes Miyafuji to the destroyed ruins of her father's lab and to his gravesite. She guesses that the letter had merely gotten lost in transit.
  • Instant Expert: Sakamoto is very surprised that Miyafuji can use the Striker Unit so well on her first try.
  • Red Shirt Army: The Zeros accompanying Sakamoto in the attack on the Neuroi get obliterated in seconds.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Sakamoto orders Miyafuji to stay beneath deck during the attack. She doesn't, and instead jumps into the Striker Unit to join the fight.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Yoshika calls out Sakamoto for lying about not knowing what happened to her father to convince her to travel to Britannia.
  • Worst Aid: Yoshika attempts to use her Healing Hands on an injured Akagi sailor. However, a fellow sailor asks her to stop, knowing she's only making it worse because magical healing might set the bones badly. She smartly settles on using her super-strength to ferry medical supplies.
