Berry in the Big City Part 1 & 2
Strawberry Shortcake says goodbye to her hometown and moves in with her Aunt Praline in Big Apple City. It’s time to follow her baking dreams! She is ready to start baking, but her food truck is in bad shape. If only she had some friends to help her out!
Tropes:
- The Alleged Car: To help Strawberry get her start in the baking business, Aunt Praline decides to gift her niece her old food truck, the Praline Dream. Unfortunately, it's in a severe state of disrepair and can barely hold itself together. Luckily, Strawberry's new friends help her repair it.
- Confession Cam: The first one in the series is Strawberry explaining to the audience that Big Apple City is considered a hotspot for bakers to be recognized.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Several supporting characters can be seen throughout the episode, including Mr. Mangosteen, Mrs. Crumbcake, and Genoise La Creme, but they aren't properly introduced until later episodes.
- Kiki KeyLime, The Peculiar Purple Pieman, and Crabapple Jam are namedropped by Strawberry as she and Aunt Praline pass by city signs displaying the celebrities, but they won't make proper appearances until "Keylime Time", "Bake Off", and "Crabapple Jam" respectively.
- Establishing Character Moment:
- Bread Pudding freaks out at seeing the Praline Dream's horrid condition, and interrupts Strawberry explaining herself to tell her that she doesn't belong at the trendy and chic Berryworks in a rather harsh and blunt tone, showing him to be stuck-up and establishing his status as an antagonist.
- Lemon Meringue asks Strawberry if she can use the Praline Dream for spare parts, later in the episode she does offer to repair the truck, establishing her as a mechanic.
- Orange Blossom asks Strawberry is she's gonna be competition around the Berryworks, before explaining it was just a joke, and is the first berry aside from Aunt Praline to give Strawberry a proper welcome, establishing her as competitive, but friendly.
- Lime Chiffon tells Strawberry that she can come to her for any information she needs, establishing her as The Smart One of the group.
- Blueberry Muffin sniffs Strawberry and deduces that she's friendly, and has a good feeling about her, establishing her as a Cloudcuckoolander. Later, she states that the Praline Dream has good energy and hugs it, showing her more spiritual side.
- Group Hug: Part 2 ends on one with Strawberry and her new Berry Besties.
- Mobstacle Course: Strawberry has to navigate through the large crowd of berries at the bus station.
- Ms. Exposition: Aunt Praline serves as this, explaining to Strawberry the ins and outs of Big Apple City, including that the best place to start a baking career is the Berryworks.
- Musicalis Interruptus: During the drive to Aunt Praline's apartment, Strawberry begins to sing "No Ordinary Berry", but is interrupted by Aunt Praline, who tells her to save the song for later.Strawberry Shortcake: The biggest names in baking all got their start right here!

Aunt Praline: (interrupting her) Ah, ah, ah. First piece of advice, skip the heartfelt song. There's no time. - Noodle Incident: What made Aunt Praline decide to stop running her food truck isn't explained, only that it ultimately wasn't her jam.
- Opening Monologue: The first scene of the episode is Strawberry on the bus explaining why she decided to move to Big Apple City, and the person she's explaining it to is an old berry who just asked her if she could move so he can use the restroom.Strawberry Shortcake: Becoming the best baker in the world is my big dream! Elder Berry: (clears throat)
Strawberry Shortcake: Oh, uh, what did- what did you ask me again?
Elder Berry: If I could scoot past you?
Strawberry Shortcake: Oh! Yes. Right. Of course. Yeah, you just- Okay. - Recovery Sequence: Orange Blossom, Lemon Meringue, Lime Chiffon, and Blueberry Muffin, all help Strawberry repair her food truck, turning it into the Extraordinary Berry.
- Understatement: Aunt Praline, upon closing the door to the food truck, and it immediately breaking off:Aunt Praline: Oh. Okay, yeah, maybe it's a bit of a fixer-upper.
- Welcome Episode: Part 2 serves as this, introducing Strawberry to the Berryworks, who all rush to greet her.
- Welcome to the Big City: When Strawberry first arrives in Big Apple City, she's overwhelmed by the huge crowds of berries.
