The engines must deal with the devastating fallout of an explosion at Brendam Docks...
Tropes:
- Call-Back: During Donald's "Eureka!" Moment, he remembers his conversation with Robert Hall, Edward mentioning Gregory Hall, Robert mentioning his uncle Gregory breaking a bottle over his head and Donald forgetting to ask him about his father, Donald having a weird feeling of deja vu after seeing Henry after his accident and finally, Donald telling Henry that his guard, Michael Creedy, had a wife and two sons.
- Donald bringing up that the factory at Cros-ny-Cuirn has a history of mishandling munitions.
- "Eureka!" Moment: Donald finally puts all the pieces together of everything that happened in the past few episodes.
- Toby, Percy and Bruce's realization that Benson didn't start the munitions disaster.
- Everyone Has Standards: Once again, Francis has the decency to not say anything callous during Thomas' funeral, and even looks shocked when the tank engine is brought in.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Mickey stands in front of an explosion after Donald's safety valve goes awry.
- Donald: Mickey! What are you doin'? Move!!Mickey: No.
- I Have No Son!: Robert Hall denounces his brother Sean Creedy, after everything he's done.
- Killed Off for Real: Thomas and Mickey both die in this episode.
- Never Say "Die": See Wham Line below.
- Riddle for the Ages: Sean Creedy never leaves behind a note, so it's difficult to determine just how much of Sodor's problems are linked to him.
- Sequel Hook: The final shot before the credits shows the small Arlesdale engines.
- Speak Ill of the Dead: Percy to Benson when it's revealed that the kill count has increased. Toby tries to call him out, but the saddle tank engine fires back that the khaki cad deserves it.
- Wham Line:
- Sir Topham Hatt: He told me that Thomas...did not survive his injuries. [...] Our Number 1...is gone.
- Also...Donald: YOU! You're Michael Creedy's boy!
- Followed by...Donald: What about your brother?!
