After Stuart's accident with some trucks, the SkR is attacked by a creature with immense speed, strength, and verocity.
Tropes:
- Gas Leak Cover Up: It's heavily implied that the "bear" was actually a cryptid the SCP contained and covered up. Maybe even the Nartwin.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: Duncan and his crew conveniently can't remember the crash into the army lorry. It's implied the SCP wiped and altered their memories.
- Mama Bear: Quite literally in this case as Stuart's accident resulted in the death of her cubs, sending her on a rampage. Except that the beast seen by the viewers doesn't look even remotely ursine.
- Mythology Gag:
- Stuart's accident is similar to the one he had in "Duncan gets Spooked". Sir Handel even threatens to punish him in the same manner as Sir Topham did.
- Skarloey appears to to have gone through the events of the last story of "Little Old Engines".
- Only Sane Engine: Ivo Hugh is understandably on the fence on searching for Duncan after he goes missing while Skarloey, Rheneas, and Rusty are ready to go.
- Outliving One's Offspring: The “bear” lost her cubs after they were killed by Stuart’s trucks. Possibly.
- Rewatch Bonus: In Edward's opening narration, just as it shows the trucks in the ravine, you can spot the pool of blood which suggests that Stuart’s trucks did actually kill something.
- Stepford Smiler: It's implied Duncan's mind is forcing him to act kinder to cope with the trauma from Andreas' death.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Sir Handel chews out Stuart for his accident, especially considering that he chose to continue pulling his train without a break van. The only reason he doesn't punish him is because he needs every engine available for the expansion work.
- You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Ivo's tone is laced with this when he asks Sir Handel if Duncan has been at the works the entire time the quartet was out looking for him.
