The second episode. Broadcast 27 September 2002.

Victor is expecting a visit from his son, John, who is coming over from South Africa with the family. Jack doesn't think they will show. Meanwhile, Winston and Peggy fight for the last gigot chops in the butchers.

Tropes:

  • During the War: Shug is a World War Two veteran, and always goes on about it, much to the annoyance of the other Craiglang locals.
  • Fat Bastard: Peggy takes great pleasure in always buying more gigot chops than she needs. Depriving poor Winston the chance of buying any. She rubs it in his face everytime.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Bill, the butcher, often favours Peggy in allowing her to buy all the chops in his shop, even claiming "she's lonely". Not only is Peggy married (not lonely at all), she is abusive to said husband, and a jerk to the other Craiglang residents.
  • Mood Whiplash: In the Clansman, Victor confides to Jack his lack of confidence about his son and family not bothering about coming to visit him. In length, Victor recalls a story of several years previous where the family were going to make a big deal out of visiting Victor for his 70th birthday, only for it to be a no-show. At this point, Jack excitedly bursts in with "Ironside!" suddenly remembering the famous wheelchair bound, blanket wearing detective.
