Go To

Having solved the problem of breathable air, the crew now has to deal with the dwindling power reserves on Destiny as the ship begins shutting down.

Tropes

  • Cue the Sun: The last shot of the episode, Destiny flying straight towards a red dwarf star.
  • Darkness Equals Death: Destiny is running out of power and eventually drops out of FTL and all the lights and systems go out, including life support. According to Rush in a few days time, the ship will no longer be able to support life.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper – Rush spends much of the episode extremely stressed and angry, and shoves Sgt. Riley into a wall when Riley bothers him a second time and snapping at Volker when the latter fails to be useful culminating in him having a nervous breakdown that knocks him unconscious for half-a-day. He gets noticeably calmer after waking up and getting through the worst of his two-fold withdrawal symptoms.
  • Heroic BSoD – Rush collapses from a combination of caffeine withdrawal, nicotine withdrawal, lack of sleep, and overwork. After sleeping 10 hours, he gets back up and starts right back on working on the problem.
  • Large Ham: After reaching his Rage Breaking Point Rush gets very loud.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
    • Much like Atlantis's ZPMs, Destiny's almost depleted power reserves are on their last legs this episode as a result of the Icarus expedition powering every system within reach (not to mention trying to dial out back to Earth).
    • Any heavy smokers or coffee drinkers among the Icarus Base survivors are now undergoing withdrawal symptoms without access to caffeine or nicotine.
