Back aboard the Hellsmasher, Obi-Wan and the fifty other Jedi with him attack Saphran. In the ensuing battle, Saphran proves to be too powerful for them with only Obi-Wan managing to hold his own. After taking too many injuries and losses, the other Jedi are forced to retreat as Obi-Wan chooses to face Saphran alone.

Meanwhile, Mace Windu's strike force have just cleared out the room containing the ship's Astropathic Choir. However, they took heavy losses due to the Astropaths employing psychic attacks which crippled and disabled many of the Jedi. The only Jedi left on Mace's strike force who are in fighting condition are himself, Depa Billaba, Jaro Tapal, Jocasta Nu, and Stass Allie. As Mace figures out his next moves, he and the others sense Obi-Wan's distress through the Force and resolve to go help him.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • And Now for Someone Completely Different: Almost the entire episode is focused on Saphran's third-person perspective as he battles against Obi-Wan's Jedi strike force. The last couple minutes of the episode then abruptly shifts to the POV of Mace Windu somewhere else in the ship and he and his Jedi strike force are finished licking their wounds from an offscreen battle with the Hellsmasher's Astropathic Choir.
  • Combat Compliment: Before starting their duel near the end of the episode, Saphran sincerely compliments Obi-Wan on his prowess in defensive lightsaber combat and claims that he would make a great Blood Angel if he were a Space Marine. Obi-Wan, however, makes it clear that the feeling isn't mutual.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion:
    • Obi-Wan's Jedi strike force vs. Saphran. While Saphran does handily defeat the Jedi and force all of them to retreat save for Obi-Wan, the battle isn't as one-sided as the one Saphran had previously inflicted on Luminara's strike force, thanks to Obi-Wan using his Stone Wall fighting style to intercept and block any fatal blows intended for his fellow Jedi, ensuring that most of the Jedi on Obi-Wan's team survive the fight. Also during the fight itself, Saphran is shown having to exercise some caution as he internally acknowledges that the Jedi still significantly outnumber him and the Jedi are still able to land multiple hits on him with their lightsabers which would have injured Saphran had he not been wearing a Deflector Shield.
    • Mace's Jedi strike force manage to take out the Astropathic Choir of the ship but they take heavy casualties when the choir deploy their psychic powers while the armsmen attack. It's only due to Mace and Deepa abusing Vaapad that they survive.
  • A Day in the Limelight: We get to see Saphran's perspective for the first time in this episode as he battles Obi-Wan's Jedi strike force.
  • Gravity Screw: During the battle between Obi-Wan's strike force and Saphran, the Librarian uses his Psychic Powers to temporarily reverse the Artificial Gravity of the room they are fighting in, then leaps all the way to the top of the chamber and flips himself so he is fighting while standing upside down on the ceiling.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: At one point during Saphran's fight with Obi-Wan's strike force, the Librarian grabs a Jedi by her ankle and tries to use her flailing body to beat another Jedi.
  • We Can Rule Together: Subverted. Saphran is seemingly so impressed by Obi-Wan's martial prowess that he offers to spare his life in exchange for Obi-Wan agreeing to abandon the Jedi and swear fealty to the God-Emperor. Obi-Wan naturally refuses and internally notes that Saphran wasn't making the offer in good faith to begin with, intending it as a thinly-veiled form of mockery that neither side took seriously.
