Buff Frog needs a babysitter for his tadpoles while he goes out, so he hires Star and Marco. What should be an easy job gets complicated when the tadpoles grow their legs and run around the house.

Tropes:

  • All Work vs. All Play: The central conflict between Star and Marco. Star believes in just having fun, while Marco insists on following the rules. In the end, they realize that it's better to have a balance between the two... or rather, their game avatars realize it, while the real Star and Marco are too exhausted.
  • Babysitting Episode: The episode revolves around Star and Marco babysitting Buff Frog's tadpoles.
  • Badly Battered Babysitter: Marco and Star are run ragged from watching the tadpoles, especially after they grow legs and run around the house.
  • Banister Slide: The tadpoles, once they grow legs, start running up the stairs and sliding down the banister. Star at first is trying to catch them, but she gets caught up with the fun and joins in.
  • Bear Trap: Star happens to have a whole lot of them in her room to ward off bears, and Katrina just happened to end up in the middle of them.
  • Brief Accent Imitation: Marco imitates Buff Frog's pseudo-Russian accent twice while narrating the instructions to caring for the Buff Babies.
  • …But He Sounds Handsome: It's how Marco words his agreement with the mini-Marco during his and Star's board game.
  • Conjoined Twins: Mikhail and Leo are the only two tadpoles in the same jelly egg.
  • Continuity Nod: As Marco and Tom noted in "Mr. Candle Cares", Star changes the rules of the game whenever she thinks it will be more fun.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Star absolutely adores Buff Frog's tadpoles, fawning over how cute they are. She even develops an irresistible desire to "boop" one of them while they sleep, accidentally waking them up.
  • Department of Redundancy Department Twice with Buff Frog:
    • When he sees the tadpoles have grown legs, he bemoans missing "the most important developmental stage of child development."
    • He thanks Star and marco for babysitting and says he will "remember this like something I will never forget."
  • Noodle Incident: Whatever job Buff Frog has to do while Star babysits the tadpoles, which requires weapons and a torture bag. When he returns to pick them up, he's all bruised and covered in thorns. The mission becomes the focus of the following episode.
  • Papa Wolf: When Buff Frog tells Star and Marco to take care of his tadpoles, he adds a deeply menacing "or else" (which only Marco picks up on).
  • Recursive Reality: In the opening, Star and Marco appear to be playing in a giant board game, but they turn out to be avatars within a normal-sized game. In the end, the avatars are playing a smaller version of the game, with smaller avatars of themselves within it.
  • Sleep Cute: Once Buff Frog reclaims his tadpoles, an exhausted Star and Marco sleep on the floor of Star's room, Star lying on Marco's back.
  • Synchronous Episodes: The episode focuses on Star and Marco taking care of Buff Frog's tadpoles while he goes on a job which is the focus of the next episode.
  • Useful Book: To save Katrina from the bear traps, Star picks up Buff Frog's binder and throws them at the traps to trigger them.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: The tadpoles spit up the bottles of cake Star feeds them, but because they're little blobs, it just looks like pink goo shooting out of belching bubbles.
