She probably would've hit it off with Shrek.
The teacher Miss Skullnick hands out math test grades and Star gets an F. Upon learning Skullnick has been unlucky in love for a long time, Star tries to bribe her, promising to set her up with a guy if she will change her grade. Star tries to use the wand to make Skullnick prettier, but botches it and transforms her into a troll.

Star can't figure out how to undo it. Marco suggests contacting her mother and asking for help. Star uses a magic mirror and accidentally contacts her ex-boyfriend Tom, a demon. He tries to get back together with her, but she gets annoyed and "hangs up". She reaches her mother but chickens out and cuts the connection.

Ludo and his minions attack. Star and Marco fight them off, but one of the minions, a minotaur, becomes attracted to Skullnick; and the feeling is mutual. Ludo and his minions retreat, except for the minotaur, who decides to explore the cosmos with Skullnick. Skullnick thanks Star for finally getting her a boyfriend, but remarks that Star should try studying since Skullnick isn't returning to teaching.

The next day, Marco and Star tell the class that Skullnick quit, making them cheer. Star claims Marco is responsible, making the class cheer for him, especially Jackie Lynn Thomas, a girl Marco has a crush on. Suddenly, Skullnick, still a troll, enters through a portal and says the minotaur dumped her.

Now bitter and angry again, Skullnick says she's their teacher again and gives a pop quiz. The class gets pissed at Marco. Star apologizes, but he's happy because that was the first time Jackie actually talked to him. Star is also happy, despite her grade, because she feels that even though she failed with Skullnick, Jackie talking to Marco proves she's even better at matchmaking than she thought... (But still not so great with the wand as she turns Marco's hair into a flaming butterfly)!

Tropes:

  • Big "NO!": As usual, Star lets one out at the prospect of being sent to St. Olga's Reform School for Wayward Princesses.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Tom makes his first appearance in this episode when Star's Magic Mirror mishears her command to call Mom as a command to call "Tom". It's brief and he's not seen again in the series until "Blood Moon Ball".
  • Forced Transformation: Star accidentally turning her teacher into a troll kicks off the plot of the episode.
  • Imagine Spot: Ludo has one about getting his "big boy body", then later Star has one about getting sent to St. Olga's and getting a lobotomy.
  • Improvised Weapon: Marco takes on some of Ludo's mooks armed with a garden rake.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Lampshaded by Marco explaining that he likes the color red and he likes hoodies, so he got a dozen red hoodies.
  • Look Behind You: After failing to catch Star when her guard's down, Ludo resorts to this in order to distract her.
  • The Matchmaker: Star tries to hook up Ms. Skullnick with the perfect guy. This leads to Star accidentally turning her into a troll, which does temporarily get Skullnick to date one of Ludo's monsters.
  • Not Helping Your Case: Star offers to "Fix [Marco] up" claiming to be almost as good at matchmaking as she is with magic. Immediately after saying that, her wand goes off and gives Marco an Ash Face.
  • Ocular Gushers: Miss Skullnick cries hard enough to literally flood Star's bedroom after getting turned into a troll.
  • Sidetracked by the Analogy:
    • First when Star tries to get Miss Skullnick to change her grade:
Miss Skullnick: You're whining about a lousy grade?! I finally had a guy with a boat, and he left me at the dock!
      Star: The dock?
Miss Skullnick: The dock isn't the important part!
    • Later, when Marco convinces Star to ask her mother for help:
Marco: You just need to get the information without letting her know what's going on. Y'know, dance around the truth!
      Star: I'm a great dancer!
  • Split-Screen Reaction: Star casting her "Combo Nuclear Butterfly Blast" elicits many panicked reactions from Ludo and his monsters (as well as Marco), on a screen unevenly split in seven parts.
  • Unwanted Assistance: Star tries to cast a spell to set Ms. Skullnick up with someone. She turns into a troll instead. It works, for a little while.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Times three. First, Skullnick starts a relationship with one of Ludo's minions, so she leaves Earth and Star lets Marco have the credit...but then Skullnick returns, having apparently broken up and is now meaner than ever, leaving the class angry at Marco.
