Off to Space We GO☆ The Planet Kennel is Wonderful! is the 8th episode of Star★Twinkle Pretty Cure, and the 741st episode overall of Pretty Cure.
The girls go on their first space adventure to Planet Kennel.
Tropes:
- Jerkass Has a Point: Kappard wasn’t exactly wrong when he claimed that the Precure had come to take the pen away despite its importance to the aliens. The fact that Pruce was even outright demanding that they steal it doesn’t really help either.
- Jerkass Realization: Pruce has one when Soleil admits she can understand why the aliens think they are no better than the Notraiders, causing him to recall him suggesting stealing the pen to fulfill their goal.
- Planet of Hats: Planet Kennel is dog-themed.
- "Not So Different" Remark: Both Kappard and Doggie accuse the Precure and Pruce of being this to the Notraiders since they want to take the Star Colour Pen, which the aliens see as an important cultural relic, without any regard to the aliens themselves. And while Pruce tries to justify his earlier behaviour as wanting to save the universe, the girls quickly realize both have a point.
- Special Edition Title: Like the previous two episodes, the opening contains a preview for Pretty Cure Miracle Universe.
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: As much as Pruce tries to justify their actions, it ultimately does not change the fact he and the others had technically come to Kennel to take away an important cultural artifact to them, and him simply demanding the pen and then outright trying to get the others to steal it does NOT earn him any favours with Doggie, who rightfully calls him out for his lack of regard towards her and her species, denouncing them to be thieves. Not matter how justified it is, you can’t simply barge into another place and steal an important item without an explanation, and the residents ARE going to be angry and mistrustful of you if you are not going to respect them or their culture.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Played With with Pruce: Due to his mission to restore the Star Princesses and bring light back to the universe, he completely brushes off the fact that Star Color Pen is important to the aliens, trying to force Elena to steal the pen regardless. Once Kappard, Doggie and Soleil make it clear that he’s acting no better than the Notraiders despite his noble intentions, he realizes his mistake and apologizes to the aliens.
- Wingding Eyes: Hikaru gets starry eyes when she sees that Kennel's rain is tiny bones.
