The show agrees to turn over footage of a riot outside of Madison Square Garden following a high school basketball tournament. Natalie refuses to let Jeremy get his stuff from her apartment. Casey has to wear his sunglasses all day following an eye exam, and Hilarity Ensues. And Dana kisses Sam.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Continuity Nod: Dana tells Sam he's been a good friend to Isaac. Also, the argument that led to Jeremy breaking up with Natalie had to do with his claim that she always felt the need to be "hip", and she brings that up in this episode.
  • Cry into Chest: Natalie does this with Isaac when she finally breaks down about her break-up with Jeremy.
  • Curse Cut Short:
Casey: Oh, I'd like to shove a piano-
Dan: Oh, there's a lady in the room.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Dana figures out pretty quickly Natalie getting angry over having to turn over riot footage to the police has to do with her having to turn over stuff to Jeremy.
  • Get Out!:
Dana: We could do it, you know. Refuse to hand over the tape and go to jail for a First Amendment principle.
Isaac: Ah, Dana. Don't you think if I could have figured out a way to send you to prison, I would have done it already?
    Dana: You're a regular cut-up there, skipper.
    Isaac: Get out.
    Dana: Okay.
  • Heroic BSoD: Natalie denies she's having this after her break-up with Jeremy, but she is.
  • Hypocritical Humor:
    Dan: I myself am a touch-typist.
    Casey: You took typing?
    Dan: Sure...very important.
Casey: You wanted to get out of pre-calc or something?
    Dan: Choir.
  • Hypocrite: Dana feels she'd be like this if she got Sam a cake for his last day, because she claims she didn't like him; of course, what she's really hypocritical about is ignoring the UST between them. Of course, after she kisses Sam, she tells him she'll get cake for him.
  • Mood Whiplash: Between the Hilarity Ensues of Casey with his sunglasses and the sadness of Natalie's reaction to her breakup with Jeremy.
  • Put on a Bus: This is Sam's last episode. Justified in that his character was freelance, and was all about going in, doing the job, and moving on.
  • Running Gag: The jokes Dan plays on Casey because he can't see indoors with sunglasses.
  • Shaped Like Itself:
Jeremy: I guess I can't say "I need to talk to you," without talking to you.
  • Shout-Out: When Jeremy says, "It's ironic," Natalie snaps, "What are you, Alanis Morissette?"
Casey: My senses; they've come alive.
Peter: Hey, hit the high note in "Crying" and I'll be impressed.
    • Also, when Natalie tells Isaac they shouldn't hand over the tape of the riot footage to the police, Isaac points out they're not protecting Deep Throat.
  • Tough Room: Dana has this reaction when Dan quotes a player's assessment of his poor performance ("My head just wasn't in the game"), he adds, "Anyone knowing the location of Reed's head should contact the proper authorities", and she's the only one in the control room who laughs.
  • Yiddish as a Second Language: Dana mispronounces "mishegas", and Dan corrects her; she sheepishly admits she's getting better.
