Go To

Directed by Thomas Schlamme

Written by Aaron Sorkin & Joan Binder Weiss (uncredited)

Dan becomes attracted to Rebecca (Teri Polo), a woman he met on the elevator (she works as an accountant at Continental Corp), even though she barely remembers him, and he claims (at first) he can't go out with her.Dana is worried Gordon is going to break up with her, and actually talks to Casey about it. Elsewhere, an article in The Wall Street Journal suggests friction between Isaac and Luther, and Isaac becomes convinced the source of the quote about that friction was J.J.

This episode contains examples of:

  • All Periods Are PMS:
Casey: Is it nature's special time?
Dana: Oh, you know what? Bite me so hard for that.
  • By "No", I Mean "Yes":
Natalie: You should talk to Casey.
    Dana: That's your only advice?
Natalie: No, I have other advice.
    Dana: What?
Natalie: (Beat) That was my only advice.
  • Call-Back: To Isaac and Luther's angry phone call alluded to in The Six Southern Gentlemen Of Tennessee.
  • Continuity Nod: Natalie's still a Shipper on Deck when it comes to Casey and Dana.
  • Grammar Nazi:
Dan: Can I spread it out for you in a nutshell?
    Casey: No.
    Dan: I can't?
    Casey: No.
    Dan: Why not?
Casey: Cause I'm tired of you mixing your metaphors. "Spread it out for you in a nutshell?" How're you doing? I'm a professional writer.
  • Insistent Terminology:
Dana: (to Jeremy) Are you sensitive about being a weather nerd? I mean, if I make fun of your being a weather nerd, will it hurt your feelings?
Natalie: He prefers meteorology nerd, don't you sweetie?
    Jeremy: Actually, yeah.
  • Married to the Job: Dana worries Gordon thinks she's this.
  • Meaningful Echo: Isaac tells J.J. the quote about "problems" on-camera - implying division between the show and the network - isn't good for the show, CSC, Continental Corp or Luther. Later, when J.J. visits the set, he repeats what he said, and then adds he started wondering who it would be good for.
  • Precision F-Strike:
Isaac: (to J.J.) I find out that quote in the Journal came from you, I'm gonna own your ass. I mean I'll absolutely own it.
  • Shout-Out: After Isaac's cryptic warning about the ''Wall Street Journal'' article, Dan asks if Isaac's trying to be like Agatha Christie.
