As Spider-Man continues to search for Morbius, the people of New York start to believe he is a vampire, which attracts the attention from the vampire hunter Blade. Realizing that Blade is trying to kill Morbius, Spider-Man must protect the latter from the vampire hunter.


This episode provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: In the series, Blade is the son of a human woman who had a relationship with vampire.
  • Continuity Nod: Dr. Connors mentions to Spider-Man how after the trouble caused by Herbert Landon and the Brand Corporation Empire State University is growing fearful of genetic research.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Blade genuinely believed the news reports that Spider-Man was a vampire, so he's quite surprised by handling a garlic bomb just fine.
  • Evil Feels Good: Despite wanting to be cured of his condition at first, Morbius begins to enjoy being a vampire right now.
  • Flashback: When Whistler explains Blade's upbringing and training to Spider-Man.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Though previously very apologetic about having to feed, the episode opens with Morbius baiting a jogger into getting close and ambushing him, as well as fighting Spider-Man for trying to talk him down. It's an indicator that he's starting to enjoy what he's become.
    • Curt again mentions that he is still trying to get a grant from the Toomes Foundation, which pays off in the two-part season finale.
  • Headbutting Heroes: Blade's willingness to put down Morbius immediately puts him at odds with Spider-Man. They spend almost as much time fighting each other as they do Morbius.
  • Hero of Another Story: As Whistler explains to Spider-Man that other vampire hunters besides Blade.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Spider-Man is still struggling with the claims that he is the one draining people's blood. Civilians are openly scared of and attacking him now. Blade also attacks him for this reason, though he's content to ignore him after seeing the stories aren't true.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Peter comforts Felicia in her grief over the whole situation. Mary Jane sees this, thinks the absolute worst, and asks Harry out for a date.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: After his fights with Morbius, Blade explains to Whistler how he was different to the other vampires he has fought before. Then Spider-Man then explains to them about how Morbius was turned into a vampire by the Neogenic Recombinator.
  • Phlebotinum Dependence: Curt has not yet found a permanent cure for Spider-Man's disease, but thanks to Mariah's research, he's figured out how to use the Neogenic Recombinator to keep it under control. A treatment every 24 hours keeps him from mutating.
  • Race Against the Clock: At the end of the episode, Spider-Man has 24 hours to get the Neogenic Recombinator back or else he'll turn into Man-Spider again.
  • Shout-Out: At the movie theater that Blade uses as his base, the 1958 Dracula movie is playing.
  • Tempting Fate: After Spider-Man gets his treatment from Dr. Connors, he says needs to stop Morbius before he strikes next, only to discover that Morbius has already got his latest victim.
  • To Be Continued: Spider-Man has to team-up with Blade and get the Neogenic Recombinator back from Morbius. If they fail, Spidey will mutate again and Morbius will be able to create an army of vampires.
  • Vampires Hate Garlic: Blade uses garlic bombs to fight Morbius, which him weaken greatly. He also tries them against Spider-Man, due to the rumor he might be a vampire, only to realize Spider-Man is not a vampire after all. Spider-Man later mixes some the garlic gas into his webs so he can better restrain Morbius. It almost works.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: When Terri Lee asks Peter for help in finding Spider-Man, due the belief he might causing the plasma draining disease, and he turns her down, she scolds for seemingly protecting his income while innocent people are suffering.
